post your opinions about faking your death to start a new life as a woman.

I was just thinking of this.

You would have to build an identity to live under and violate a lot of laws regarding fraud. To be caught would be prison where you may not fare so well. It is also hard to delete the habits that can catch you to someone who really would like to find you.

Isn't that illegal?  Also, if you still have family that would be quite harsh to them.

If you don't have family and you're a mastermind that can outwit the authorities, I guess sure, why not.

Bad idea all around I reckon. However, there are some people here that have "faked" leaving to come back under a different name, so while not as drastic it's "virtual" death I guess.

They have 'Witness Protection Program's...  And there appears to be a demand by a minority of the community to achieve the end-state you're suggesting...

I have to admit it is a fantasy of mine.  Would I ever do it?  With my luck I would be caught.  So probably not.

Now, as I have mentioned before, I would love to be witness to a violent crime and be put in the witness protection program.  It may be the one way in the US to get government to pay for some of my surgery.

I never thought about faking my death, but emigrating to another country absolutely. Without a social security number it seems like it would be the next best thing.

I have had thoughts to just get in my car and drive away.  Leave all behind and change my ID.  It is too hard to face my family with what would make me feel better.  So far they have not approved of anything I have done.  But no guts to do it, yet.   dylen

Kristi, believe me.. you do not want to be witness to a violent crime.. or even the aftermath of one.

It is called post-traumatic stress for a reason.

Yea, and the part that would be really great is...
...the reason we would need the governments
help in hiding our silly butts in the first place...
Like, all CSI and stuff.  :icon_2gun:

I doubt that faking your death is feasible in this day and age.  I'm not sure how the law would treat a situation where it appears a death occurred but there is no corpse.  Rather than being declared dead, you may end up in a legal limbo.  You then have to deal with having no identity.

In that case, it would make more sense to fabricate a new identity using the Social Security number of someone who is dead.  I'm not sure how that works either, but it's a staple of fiction and real identity theft.  At least this way, there are fewer steps.

All of it is illegal of course.

Myself

As a person living with her parents, this idea is really akward.
I don't love my family much but I still love them.
I don't want to let them think something bad happened to me.

I would like to move to the UK due if I ever get a work permit.
But still stay in contact with my friends, the close ones who knows everything about me, they are my friends for good reasons :)

You don't need to fake your death, change the IDs, look, move away.

This is not recommended, and as this would be illegal in almost every jurisdiction world wide, I am locking this topic.
