I have no reference but it would make sense that you do. Your body doesn't stop making them when your sick why would you not take them when your sick.

Not on T yet, but the way I see it, if a man gets sick, he does't take his testies off. So I will not take any break in my HRT should I fall ill.

What?  :o Men don't take his testies of when they're sick? LOL j/k

Yep, like everyone else said -- unless your doctor tells you different -- you don't need to stop your HRT. Actually, stopping it all of a sudden can cause some shock to your system and you could even feel more ill. So, unless your HRT is causing a health concern and your doctor needs you to go off and re-evaluate you, having a flu, cold, etc, isn't a reason to go off HRT.

*thinks detachable male parts would have made her transition a lot easier, no need for SRS, just detach and and give to a FtM friend -- we could trade!*

Definitely the way to go.

It might stress the body more when you are sick, but unless told otherwise, keep taking them

I have to chew my spiro pill

Is that as gross as it sounds or do they make a chewable version?

General advice is to keep taking any medication as normal if you are sick. Be aware if you are on anti-depressants or anti-epilectic drugs (etc)you should try and keep a record of when you voided (sorry) so if you have a problem the medics know that you may not have peak levels. They will then boost you safely.

Depends. Run of the mill illnesses, yes. Recent bacterial infection that left me in bed for two weeks, not so much. I am only on estrogen and I took it here and there. I might have done more but one day bled into the next and before I knew it a week had gone by.

No, I stop if I need to. Especially when I get high prolactin levels.

Actually, it is quite tolerable. Chewing the finasteride (which I no longer take) or my huge multivitamin pills was/is worse.
Yes, I would imagine multivitamins would taste terrible.  And some of them are enormous, so I can see why you might have to crush or chew them.  But why do you chew spiro or finasteride?

I forgot about this discussion. What is the reason for chewing the spironolactone, I was trying to figure that out but something shiny happened by and you know how it goes.

Absolutely, unless my sickness is the result of a bad dosage or bad intake method, in which case I modify the method and/or the dosage until the new balance is attained.

Hi...
This would depend on a number of things . for normal  colds & flues. it would not seem to be a problem. so yes . keep takeing them .
Now age has a bearing . & depends what meds . & strength. they are .  i m 62 .
Lets look at two details . long haul flights . so  to much sitting will not help . & youll know about that . i came off my meds . for two sets of op.s . first one was for 5 weeks . i was on premirn  & spirolacton .
The 2 nd . was 11 weeks . when going over to phuket  for my ops s r s . & b a . some will say why so long . i was told 2 weeks before my ops & two after . with 23 days in phuket . i was not prepared to have any thing go wrong so i took more time . & yes was well worth it . oh i lost some breast growth . & that took months to regain it . a miner detail .   health wise . for some meds it takes your body 3 months to be totaly out of your boby . so 11 weeks was okay for me to have enough e to keep me stable my tests confirmed that .
we do need our meds of e for life ..no way out of that . now the other concern is if we have a accident . whats going to happen to us concerning blood clots & & oither details . some thing we have not talked about . so there are concerns that we do have.    thats why we check in with our endo.s . as they will have a better idear . of what can happen .   i.v changed over from premirn to progynova . so i will be doing my blood tests all over again just like i did in the begining . every 3  months for first year.   6 months the 2 nd . & then like i did.    now every year .so i know what is happening in my body .
For some they wont bother, then when some thing goes wrong they wonder why . its not a game for some of us its life or death .
I.v been on h r t for over 5 years now so i have a better idear of what.s going on . now most of the changes have taken place so its just maintaning . my body ,
The other point is these med.s are for women . & we dont have a data base to look at . so really we are guinepig.s in many ways .  oh well female one.s at that .........
