How soon is too soon?

I've been on HRT for 5 months now, and in November, I am going to San Francisco with a close friend to support her while she gets FFS. In all the excitement of everything, I started to think that it would be a perfect time for me to get BA done! Since I'm going to be there for a while, I figure, why not? The only question is, is it too soon to be thinking about BA at this point? Your thoughts are highly valued! Thanks!

Honestly, that's something only you can really answer.

If your F/T it would be a lot easier to get a BA -- you don't wanna get a B/A and then have to explain what happened. I would recommend being F/T (if you're not already) before getting a BA. But, that's my opinion.

If you know, for sure, that you're going the right direction with your transition -- then why not. If you're still unsure, and doubtful, and not ready (say, you're not f/t yet), you might wanna put it off for a bit.

In the end, it's all up to you... it's your body and your life. :)

I am full time. The only worry I have is if it's too soon because of time on HRT, and how my continued use of hormones would affect the results. Other than that, I am totally ready, and very excited

hummm, well, you're breasts are still growing.

I've heard some people saying you should wait for a year or two, 'cause there could be some complications with your breasts still growing and getting a BA.

I've heard of people getting it done earlier before, too. I've never had one, so I can't tell you from experience so I'm not really useful. It may be a question you ask your surgeon.

For what it is worth, my insurance company recommends 18 months before BA. Why they sent that to me is a mystery tho.

I've heard that about waiting too, and it makes sense really, why pay for what you could end up growing yourself.
Whatever you decide, please please please don't make drunken cowboy pickup jokes.

At 5 months you're barely into your growth stage.   Your full development won't complete for nearly 5 years although the majority of your growth will occur by 18-24 months.

As a result, I'd really argue against it so early on HRT.

this. as a genetic female, it took me some years before they were done. probably about 7 years altogether. i think you may regret getting it done so early. and IMO natural breasts are always preferable. what if you get it done, and you could have had a really great natural rack? also - any breast work can affect feeling. you could end up with totally useless jugs.
i think you might want to wait and see what natural gifts nature has in store for you. and if she turns out less than generous, you can can always get it done later.
and i have heard of cases where they grew a whole lot after SRS and the girl had already gotten a BA and then wished for a reduction.

1) I'm jealous
2) Can  I come too and watch
3) 'Thinking' is ok but what's yer hurry
4) Why on earth would ya want to do that anyway, what makes ya think you''ll really want "big girls" and or won't have good shape o'natural?

Kate? Where are you anyway? We miss you, hope you are well, our first class "impulse item" girl for sure! Was that you on the Atlanta Marta a few months back getting off at the North Springs station ('cause it's been buggin me ever since)?

They're never truly "done"! After almost 20 years and two kids later WHY DO YOU THINK I'M SO AFRAID OF MY WIFE NOW?

No big mystery, it's called "cleavage asphyxiation"!
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

If its been five months without question wait.  Especially if you are younger and don't smoke.  I am over 2 years in and my breasts are still developing...I should note I am a C cup.  Most folks do not start developing until 6 months in.  The people I know who did get BA, waited at least a year and half, and in every case they had very little breast development.  Patience is your best friend, especially with regards to this issue.  Do not jump onto doing BA until you are at least 18 months into hrt, then decide if its appropriate.  Right now you are way to early into the process.

I was on HRT for years and had small B cups but after an orchi last January, they are growing again along with other changes.  I am glad that I didn't have BA before.  I'll wait another year or so and see what I have then.

One thing though, my breast line is higher than a GG and I would like to have a more natural lower one.  BA for that is an attractive idea.

Nero is right on.

I was a C cup until my SRS and then they started developing again and I am now a D cup. I did start taking the hormones at age 16 which I am sure made some difference.

5 months is way too early to think about BA.  Alot of plastic surgeons wont even do it if its under a year. You wouldnt be going to that FFS dr in San Fran anyways, would you?

Thanks for all the great responses everyone! I have decided that yes, waiting is the best for me at this time. I have a lot more that I can do with my transition that will help, and having breasts is not that big of a deal for passing. I'm not having FFS done in SF, my friend is. I am just going for support, and to take care of her.

This is true. When I met my wife she was a nice B cup. Now 22 years later they are large C cups. No kids either  :D
