Hi,

I'm preparing to have my gender markers changed on ids. Now I have a pretty good idea about the DL and SS, but just remembered that my citizenship certificate has a prominent F on it. I know that there are probably few other foreign born people on these boards, but can ANYONE offer some pointers on this topic? Here is what I have so far: male name and a strong surgeon's letter. And will soon have (next month, if all goes well) a corrected DL and SS info. What I do not have: a passport ( don't need one at the moment) and a rectified birth certificate ( don't think I'd be able to change it, and have never been asked for it anyway, and it's in a foreign language).
So with/without these documents how far would I get?
Any ideas or helpful websites would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In America a passport is the "gold standard" even if you don't need one for travel.
It's the best single document that proves identity and right to work when filling out an I-9 form to start a job.
Get a passport if your surgeon's letter is strong enough.

The State Department says that you can get a replacement citizenship certificate if your name has changed, presumably also your gender.
US Citizenship and Immigration Form N-565
The filing fee of $380 seems a bit steep though. :(

What country are you in? If Canada, surgeon's letter and name change is sufficient.

Thanks for the tips, I guess it's a hit or miss thing then. I'll try it and will let everyone on Susan's know if it worked or not. I live in the US, so I'm sure there have been other cases of foreign born TG people they dealt with before.
