A Place for "The Others?" - enter SO-Central
http://lorisrevival.blogspot.com/2009/08/place-for-others-enter-so-central.htmlThroughout my transition, I watched my wife struggle to scour the internet looking for just the right place to find the support that she needed. A place to vent freely, share about her own faith and religious convictions, and to find others who know what grieving over their slowly vanishing spouse was like. Lucky me, finding transgender support groups was as easy as a quick Google search for "transgender," or "transgender support."
But for her, the few groups she tried by either lurking in the background or actively participate in always fell short of giving her a comfortable place where she can feel what she feels...without feeling judgement from others. According to her, some of the main issues was that of those support groups for significant others, there were either too many trans men or women who seemed to dominate a topic or conversation, and any disagreement by the SO was nearly always met with derision and attack.
