Maryteresa

I'm a 60+ year-old grandfather and I hate the balding white-haired lined face staring back at me out of the mirror each morning.
I came late to crossdressing, starting in middle age with just a skirt, adding tights and shoes and photographing the bottom half only.  Only after the arrival of the internet and digital photography did my dressing take off, so to speak.
I now dress head to toe and collect albums of photos in various outfits.    Apart from the obvious buzz, the big thing is the camouflage that make-up and a wig affords me....I can safely say that my 'femme' appearance takes at least twenty years off my age and that appeals to me a lot.

Unfortunately opportunities for this are rare as I've come out to no-one.  At 6'2" in bare feet I'd have difficulty 'passing' while parading down a shopping mall in heels!

My wife found out and we've had acrimonious words about it, so everything remains very hidden.
Fortunately we have extensive private grounds, so when the coast is clear I have plenty of space to enjoy a walkabout while 'dressed'.
I have added a wireless remote control to my camera so I can avoid the ten-second dash and also take shots from a long way away.   These require ruthless editing, of course.

That's about it,  girls...

Welcome Maryteresa,

At 6' in stocking feet myself I can sympathize.

I am sure you will find a lot of helpful folks here with similar interests and all.

I am sorry your wife is having problems with things. She may find it helpful to look into the Significant Others section for comfort and advice from others going through similar revelations.

Hi Maryteresa,

I'm sorry to hear that you've had a negative reaction from your wife, it's really hard to hear that the people who love us might not be able to accept the real person we are inside, but maybe she'll start to learn about this facet of you and come to terms with how she feels about it.

No matter what happens on the home front, you've now found Susan's and there are tons of people here in similar situations or who can at least relate in some way. In the few months I've been here, I've found this place to be exceptionally welcoming and sincere, and a great resource of info too.

Hopefully you'll start reading and posting and begin to feel like a part of this big ol' family we have here. I'm already wondering how I made it this long without the awesome people here and the discussions we've had. :)

Hi Maryteresa, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 3100 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out

Many of us have had those talks with the wife.  I hope that you two can work things out.

Blessed Be.

Hi Mary Teresa

Welcome to the club

I'm just under 6'2" and was afraid to go public for quite awhile and would experiment only on occasion. But then I noticed that even dressed in drab people responded to me as a female

The most common comments were "Now there goes a tall drink o' water" or some rude comments about being horsey

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Hi Maryteresa and welcome. I'm a 61 year old soon to be grandfather who started crossdressing only 4 years ago at age 56. Since then I have been out in public many times and love being who I am. My wife is accepting of my dressing though she doesn't always understand why I like to. I have discovered that more TS than Cd but Cd was my starting point. I'm so grateful for that.

Welcome to Susan's.  I'm a bit older than you, a lifelong closeted crossdresser, and have only started to transition to the real me this year.  I'm 5'10" and met a young woman this morning who towered over me - I'd guess at least 6'2".

Keep talking to your wife.  If you've been together a long time and this is something new, it might take a while for her to come to terms with.  You're only beginning to come to terms with it yourself, and it's within you.  It will be more difficult for her.

Good luck.

Welcome dear, I also am very tall in heels. I like the attention. If that is you in the profile photo you are quite passable and a very beautiful lady. Goodluck honey. P.S. You can show off your photos a flickr. I do, but I'm very vain. Hugs,Gen

Maryteresa

Well, Thank you, all you girls who welcomed me.  I've also begun putting pics into Flckr under marytrersa...note the daft spelling, as my femme name was already taken.   K8  ! you don't look over 67, especially if you go out looking for trouble on a motorbike.
If they invented the telephone tomorrow my wife wouldn't have one, so using a computer is alien to her.
My signature photo was taken on THE 'summer' day we got way back in June.   In Ireland summer days arrive unannounced and singly, so rapidly chngeable is our weather.  Met Eireann couldn't forecast accurately much beyond the next downpour !...ah yes...a 'sunny interval' !..don't blink.   I think it was W.B. Yeats who penned   'Erin, the tear and the smile'.   That about sums it up, I think.

Oops. :P  You said you were 60+ but didn't specify how many +.  I turned soixante-six on my last birthday after deciding to start aging in French, so we're about the same age.  I love my motorbike but usually don't have to look for trouble as it finds me readily enough.

Again, welcome.  Jump in and join the fray. :D

Kate,
I'd love to see a photo of you 'en femme' and not in motorbike gear, which must be pretty unisex, unless that is you let your long hair blow in the breeze.  You've certainly got a slim figure.

From her recent avatars alone, I'd say Kate is quite lovely "en femme". When I scroll down the page in any thread she's posted in and see her smile bursting off the computer screen, it brightens my day. Plus, she's always got great advice and a kind word for everyone. :)

:icon_redface:  You are a sweetie, James.  But now you've ruined my tough-as-nails, don't-mess-with-me biker persona. >:(

Maybe you're right, Maryteressa.  My hairdresser is after me to let my hair grow longer, but for now I like how manageable it is.  I live in a windy place and between that and the bike I like having shorter hair.  And thank you for saying slim rather than :P skinny :P.  Unisex is OK - at least it's not male.
