Well, good evening, morning, and whatever exists in between. I thought I'd pop on here and introduce myself, just to generally scope out - my very exciting story is that I'm born female, much to my chagrin. I have never really thought of gender as a big deal but did used to get thoroughly naffed off in primary school because I was a bit of a loner and the only people I wanted to be friends with were unquestionably male and myself, forced into a red gingham dress and long hair, stuck out like the proverbial sore thumb. Anyway, to cut a long story short I only really connected with the world a couple of years ago and since then I've known more or less that I am male. Just, as it happens, and as I am sure is the experience with a number of people out there, having to exist for the moment in a body which isn't particularly representative. I've never been a tomboy - playing rugby doesn't count - but by no means are all men conformists to the butch idea anyway. I've never really talked about it , but it hasn't been something I've hidden, and I'm in the process of coming out to friends at the moment - the ones who know so far are spectacularly supportive. My mother outed me about six months ago and is, in a nutshell, not supportive. I joined here because Google is a wonderful thing and it just seemed a good idea to wander about the internet finding out other people's experiences.
Aside from all this lovely stuff - I'm in sixth form, hoping to study NatSci at Cambridge next year, or if not, then Neurology elsewhere. I am a certified English Literature enthusiast, and also fascinated by Late Victorian political and social history and the history of London. Other pursuits include the near-worship of Stephen Fry, the band Muse and the TV show House. Hoping to get up the courage to mosey on down to the doctor's to get the proverbial ball rolling vis-a-vis gender affiliation soon, but we shall see on that note because rumour has it I'm something of a pansy.
