Hey everyone!  Thought I would share a little scenery with you.  We haven't had a great summer this year up here in NY.  It's been pretty wet, actually, and the last few days were pretty bad with lots of showers.  But today was really nice, so I made the most of it and went for a (very long) 5 mile bike ride.  I am so sore all over, I haven't ridden that far in a while.  But it was a good workout.

It's all farmland up here, maybe five or six farmers within a stones throw from my house.  Fairly moderate/conservative, but I love the area, so you take the pros with the cons.  I'll always be somewhat of a country girl at heart I suppose.  :icon_chick:

It's around the early to mid fall growing season here, and the corn is getting pretty tall.  I came across this field on my ride and couldn't resist taking a photo.  It was very beautiful out.

The corn is very tall!  It's probably over 6ft high.

Enjoy!

Yes, but is it as high as an elephant's eye? >:-)

The last day of summer ain't till Sept. 29, don't try to end it early, I still got's lots of beach time and bike time to go.

And the original phrase was "knee high by the Forth of July" meaning if you were going to have a good harvest, the corn had to be about that high, by about that time.  "Elephants Eye" is from Oklahoma, a Broadway musical by composer Richard Rodgers and librettist Oscar Hammerstein II. Though most people forget that, but as any midwesterner will tell you, it never gets that high, and certainly not in July.

Ah, ok.  Thanks Tekla, like I said, I just took the photos because I thought it was pretty.  ;D

OK, I'll match you, I go bike riding this week and take my camera and get some shots of the grapes growing.  You'll like those, ahh, wine.

Sounds good hun, I look forward to those.  ;D

Yeah, I ought to get some while they are in full growth, and not when they turn, that way the pictures of the grapes turning are that much more pretty.

Ugh, I'd love for summer to be over.  The heat is terrible and the humidity worse, haha.  But then again that's what floridians get, no?

Gorgeous scenery on the pictures there, now that I could enjoy summer with.

Thanks Key.  I could never live in Florida, I traveled there once when I was little and it's just too damn hot for me!  I love the northeast too much to leave, this is where I'll stay.  :D

I'm booking it to somewhere north as soon as my life is good and I have the money to, hehe.  Somewhere the leaves turn colors before they fall, and there's at least a chance for a snow day during winter.

Winter tends to depress me and I get cabin fever  :P But there are some things to look forward to.....

Football season. A girl that likes football? This one does.

Then there's the thrill of BMXing my mtn. bike in the snow

Of coarse there is nothing more fun than making snow men and women that shock the neighbors

I still don't want summer to end though

I hate snow and cold. Key can have my spot in the world and I'll travel south.

I like snow and cold in its place, like up in Tahoe where I can drive up to it, and leave it when I've had enough and go back to laying on the beach in the sun.

We have plenty of colorful leaves in the fall here in the NE.  (I sound like a travel agent, lol!)
