MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A transgendered South Burlington High School senior is asking the Vermont Human Rights Commission to back an effort to require the state's middle and high schools to offer genderless bathrooms.

Sixteen-year-old Kyle Giard-Chase told the commission Thursday that until a year ago he was a three-sport athlete and the co-captain of the field hockey team.

Kyle told the commissioners how he had been verbally harassed and physically threatened at an away game for entering the girl's restroom.

I think all public places should have a genderless restroom. That's one thing I miss about Calif. Several places have genderless restrooms. Some of them have a picture depicting Male/Female. Others just simply have a sign that says RESTROOM with no other denotation  :icon_chick:

Here in schools there are often but not always unisex bathrooms. Stores are getting better at having "family" restrooms. Perhaps the time will come when restaurants and bars will too but I think that will be the last place it will happen.
