Two transgender women in D.C. were stabbed on August 26. One of the victims, Tyli'a "NaNa Boo" Mack, was killed.

The DC LGBT community held a vigil to honor her life and to condemn the anti-LGBT violence that occurs every single day across the country. Of particular note, is the speech by Chris Farris, co-chair of Gays and Lesbians Opposing Violence (GLOV,) urging DC Mayor Adrian Fenty to end his silence on hate crimes against the LGBT community.
