The theater department at the University of Wyoming at Laramie will stage a reading of "The Laramie Project -- 10 Years Later" on Oct. 12, joining more than 120 theaters across the nation and overseas that will have readings on the same day.

The new work is an 80-minute epilogue to "The Laramie Project," the acclaimed play about the murder of a 21-year-old gay man, Matthew Shepard, in that Wyoming town in 1998. The university had not previously committed to staging the work, instead waiting to see a draft of the script, according to Greg Reiner, executive director of the Tectonic Theater Project company.
