Well, I've finally got the ball rolling for coming out at work.  I'm starting to get some odd looks from my co-workers, and have gotten the "Do you have a cold?" question.  Plus, my name change will be official on the 28th, so I figured it was about time.

The HR rep was very nice, and congratulated me on my transition.  She also assured me that all the managers had recently gone through "diversity training", which had included "all types of diversity".  I gave her a copy of Transgender Workplace Diversity by Jillian Weiss, and we set up an appointment for next Thursday to discuss in more detail how we are going to proceed from here.  I think it's going to go well.  Wish me luck with my co-workers.  I'll post updates as things progress.

Great news Jamie

Hope it all goes well. You know you have a cheer squad here when you need it.

Mmm I may need to get a Cheer leaders uniform.

Congrats

I think that this is one of the mosts difficult steps in the process besides telling Mom. It takes a lot of courage to take on this responsibility.

Good for you.

Chin up!

That is great new, Jamie.  Things should go smoothly, or least they did for me when I came out at work.

You're on your way, Jamie.  How wonderful!

Let us know how it goes - we'll be ready to cheer you on, even if some of us don't don cheerleader uniforms. ;D

Ah Kate

We need a Cheer girl squad. I was thinking of more the pit girl uniforms (?) at the motor racing. Presume they are just as innocent in the USA as in Aus

Whose  :laugh:goin to join up

Hmmm.  >:-)  Now, I might be interested in that, Cindy.  I'm a woman "of a certain age" so probably wouldn't make it as a pit girl, but I could be a very permissive pit mom. ;)  As long as I got to wear the uniform, too. ;D
