Would they disqualify a man from competing if he were intersex? Of course not.

Well, this just proves that anyone who thinks trans folks are making good strides in achieving understanding from the general public is smoking some really good stuff.  This issue has made it to almost every media in the world.

"Oh my god!  She's a man!  Details at 10."

Nobody gives a flying leap what she's gone through.  Nobody cares she didn't dope herself.  Nobody cares this is the way she was born.  The only thing that matters to them is believing she is really a man or just some freak.  It's a great circus side show for them.

This poor 18 year old kid has to be dragged through the mud because the world is filled with ignorant lemmings who just love a juicy story.  And the unconscionable media is more than happy to make a buck at her expense.

Yeah, it is looking pretty good for anyone who is different, especially when it comes to their gender.  I wonder if Jerry Springer called her.

Thank you for talking some sense! I had all but given up on this thread in disgust & udder disbeleif. Every one is of course entitled to their own opinon especialy here, but to see the tg community even find an angle of this to argue over is very troubling to me!

Ummm, yes they would.  Its a limbo deal.

And debating the USC quarterback is a lot less stress, unless you are at USC.

I just think that they would not even bother to test a male. I could be wrong.

In retrospect I think THIS article WAS sensationalist, I did read some other articles (one of which was written by Anne Fausto-Sterling) that were much better.

Once Lance Armstrong won his third yellow jersey at the Tour de France he had people following him around to catch every drop of pee he released to test it.  In most 'amateur' competition jocks of both sexes are constantly tested, all of them before, and the winners after.  Almost every Olympics have had someone, mostly male, get a medal revoked after the tests turned up a positive on something (and the list of somethings is huge, and includes testosterone).  Hell a snowboarder almost lost a medal for having a positive for pot - hardly a 'performance enhancing' drug.

Don't you think that Michael Phelps was being tested every which way they could as he closed in on eight medals?

Hell, they test horses before and after races too.

If you're talking about a gender test, you're probably right.  But then, a genetic male who takes female hormones isn't going to get much performance enhancement in sports.

When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

Uh, yeah, I meant gender/sex test.
