ok ladies...
so how do --you--put your mascara on...and eye liner...
do you have store bought salon nails or your own.
============
I was taught..told..to use that double end mascara...white on one end to prep the lashes and black on the other to do the mascara.
eye liner I was told..I could..go brown...but "I" like the black.
I had 1 set of salon nails..but I broke them cleaning out a pickup truck.

eye brow liner..I have tried to use a light brown...
and I have 1 good wig now..it looks to--me--like a frost.
light brown with blonde highlights.
I try..to use..a soft pink lip color...nothing really brash.
I am still using --some--blues and greens..for eye shadow...but I also have a white..that I use..just under the eyebrow down to the eye lid..where I have my shadow.
not "loud" but it high lights for me.

still shopping for good heels.
difficult to find solid heels that won't splinter.  I like the stiletto but nothing too uncool.

not into boots...unless I shopped for ladies cowgirl kicks.

I PREFER short skirts..knee length or a bit shorter.
I am..--told--I have nice enough legs for mini skirts but I do not think 50 + is too cool for mini's.

I have a few blouses...and 1 great fluffy sweater.
I really need to find 3 pocket ladies jeans...

==========
ok
how about all you girls?

Hi Veronica.

I have my eyebrows and eyelashes tinted about every 4 weeks at the local salon, which avoids the need for eyebrow pencils and also I just use a normal mascara on my lashes If I am out somewhere special.

I also went to a session with a beauty consultant before I transitioned and did colour matching, which over the course of a day (using computer technology) looked at my hair, skin , eye colour etc and on that basis we selected foundation and make up colours that suited me best.

This also applied to colours for clothes and I actually look good in pink (a colour I had never considered before) as well as browns and teal.

She also looked at accessories and glass frames to suit my face and it was a real fun day, which ended with a session, in which she applied the make up we selected and then I had a couple of goes.

I actually looked like a Clown after I had finished, but 8 years on I can put my make up on in 15 minutes... as they say, practice makes perfect.

yes--this is what I myself need to do also.
I think it would be nice to have ladies frames/lenses soon.

but I would like to see a consultant also.

I experimented with cosmetics for years until I found colors and a style that I liked.  It would have been a lot easier to consult with someone like Buffy did.  I did it the hard way ;)  But now I know what works and what does not.

I seldom wear makeup now however.  I don't go anywhere much, so why bother?

I haven't had a chance to try out makeup yet, but I have a few friends who have offered to teach me.   :D

Um, but about the other stuff, well, I like flip-flops and open-toed shoes and just casual stuff.  And I like those form-fitting jeans that really show off your butt because that's about the only part of myself that I actually like.  I don't know about the rest.  I haven't had much of a chance to experiment much yet.

Yup! Yup!  You just learn through trying and making mistakes, through having those raccoon eyes and applying the wrong color of eye shadow ;D

I don't wear eye liner because I already have under eye black circles due to my lack of sleep and if I wear those blue black eye liners, I in fact look like a raccoon.  I use an extra volume, double extend mascara, which does not run or smudge; see your PM for brand and where you can get it. ;)  I know they sell all kinds of double extend type mascaras in some drugstores, but they never work for me...."you get what you pay for"

For my brows I wear a brow pencil which is made of powder; I think the look is more natural and my brows actually look fuller, considering that I pluck all the hairs out every day.. ;D ;D  manic?  bipolar?, bad habits? I don't know....maybe all of those combined... :D

I don't like very high heels that much to tell you the truth because they make me look gigantic.  I love blouses with crew neck or V neck; I don't wear skirts at work; Actually I have only seen two of the receptionists who do. I feel more comfortable wearing a nice pair of slacks, such as palazzo ;D  :P

Interesting questions, Veronica :)

ok. not--trying to sound like a dude...please forgive me..
BUT

hun?  THIS is one thing males abhor...women that don't keep themselves up.
run around the house all the time..in robes and nightgowns..no makeup...and looking frumpy.
why?
because you can.
because it feel pretty you have to look  pretty.
because BEING pretty is what us gals need.
imho

Makeup is not always a given and women can still look very pretty without it.  I never thought I would go out without mine on but I have and survived just fine.  It frees up 15-20 minutes in the AM and the few minutes to keep it up here and there throughout the day.

When I am dressing to impress or hitting the clubs then I always make sure that my makeup is perfect.  :)

I use regular black mascara and try not to go too heavy.

I have been adding just a little brown shadow to my eyes.  I use a bit of dark brown shadow as an eyeliner.

Skirts - I try to go to knee cap or longer, especially with winter just around the corner.

Jeans - I buy at K-mart and other such stores.  I prefer 5-pocket jeans, blue & black, because they can do double duty as either girl or guy jeans.

Shoes - Payless works for me, as does ebay.  While I have a pair of 4 inch heels, they hurt my feet too much.  This is partly because I have far too much mass resting on the balls of my feet!  On ebay, I look for cloudwalker-brand shoes.  They are comfortable and sturdy.  Plus, you can often get them at a good price.

When I get ready to go full time, I am planning on spending about a thousand dollars to get the consultations and things I need.  THat is on top of already working on building up a career-wardrobe now.
