what the hell did i just watch?
Alright, i finally watched a german Edgar Wallace Movie i hadn't seen before (The Trygon Factor/Das Geheimnis der Weißen Nonne).
The plot is so ridiculous, it has to be seen to be believed.
Let me give me a quick summary:
An inspector gets murdered at the local nun's order at Emberday Hall (and his toupee even slips in the murder scene and they left it in). Inspector Cooper-Smith is on the case, meeting the charming french golddigger (in a rare positive portrayal) Polly during his investigations at the hotel his colleague stayed at.
The family of Emberday seems to be an unusual bunch:
Lady Emberday (the old lady orchestrating much of the heist)
Luke Emberday (the mentally handicapped and very flamboyant son with a penchant for dressing up in garish costumes and i think a penchant for crossdressing, gets shot by his mother at the end)
Trudy Emberday (the, unusually for this time, "daughter" who wants to be a man and likes killing men and turns out to be the main killer, yay classic 1960's portrayal, gets killed by molten gold)
And the nuns:
Head Nun (she co-orchestrates the heist)
Hamlyn (her husband(!) with moral qualms who gets shot over them)
This movie at times is "so bad, it's good" and at times so outrageous that you'll just laugh and roll along with it. It makes for great riffing.
My mother watched some of it together with me. When it came to Trudy's reveal that she wants to be a man, i turned around and said: "Did they just? What am I watching?"
I kind of want to record a rifftrack for it since it screams for one, but who would ever want one?
