The version of health care reform legislation made public today by Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) contains no LGBT-specific language, unlike similar bills in the House, according to the Human Rights Campaign.

Baucus, chair of the Senate Finance Committee, unveiled on Wednesday his mark of his committee's version of the health care reform legislation. The mark was produced by the "Gang of Six," a group of three Democrats and three Republicans who worked toward producing a bipartisan health care reform bill.

But Allison Herwitt, HRC's legislative director, said in a statement that Baucus' legislation lacks language that would specifically address the needs of LGBT people.
