OKLAHOMA CITY -- One of the state's most controversial lawmakers is drawing an equally controversial opponent. Representative Sally Kern will face a transgendered attorney in her next race for the state House.

Brittany Novotny made it clear she wants this race not to be about her personal decision to become a woman, something that is likely going to be easier said than done.

"Today, I'm officially announcing my candidacy for State Representative in House District 84," said Brittany Novotny, the Democratic candidate in Dist. 84.

Wouldn't that be a nice coup?  Replacing the hate mongering Kern with someone who knows the damage Kern has done.

Brittany deserves our respect for her courage and willingness to make personal sacrifices.

But I can't help but think that campaigning against Sally Kern, especially as an out transsexual, is probably tilting at windmills.  Kern made her vile comments about homosexuality in Spring 2008, but was she was still re-elected in November with a 58% majority.  Granted that is significantly less than that first time she ran, in 2004 when she took 68% of the vote (she was unopposed in 2006), but I think it speaks to the nature of the district she represents.  Some voting areas are deeply red and will not be friendly to our concerns.

Of course, I could be wrong.  I hope I am.

Though I would vote for Donald Trump or Satin himself before Sally (cause what's the diff?) exactly what does she stand for besides no Sally - which I guess if I lived there would be enough.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
