In an effort to clean up Pattaya and improve the image of the city by ridding the streets of beggars, and undesirable people such as prostitutes causing a nuisance to tourists,

another crackdown exercise was put into operation in the early hours of the 29th September along Beach Road. A total of 50 offenders were rounded up, including 20 ladyboys and 30 young women.  They were taken back to the police station where they were given a warning and a hefty fine before being released back onto the streets.
