The organizers of the march are organizing under a single demand: "Equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states." Their website states their philosophy in an equally succinct manner: "As members of every race, class, faith, and community, we see the struggle for LGBT equality as part of a larger movement for peace and social justice." One of the speakers at the march will be author and organizer Sherry Wolf. As I wrote in a review of her recently released book Sexuality and Socialism: "No other work that comes to my mind explains the history of sexuality and sexual repression in the United States as comprehensively and compellingly." Wolf is currently touring the United States talking about her book and organizing for the October 11th march. I was able to get in touch with her while she was in Boston and we had the following email exchange.
