So I told myself due to a bruised ego that I wouldnt post here anymore. I didnt feel like being told everything about me that was failing... BUT.  I took everything with a grain of salt and decided that I really do need help with a few things that I just cant get from my non-trans friends.

I recently took the advice of a few people and grew my eyebrows back in ( I previously drew them on and had been for 7 years or so.) They have some patchiness and just arent full so i fill them in with eyeshadow. They are still thin but I like them quite alot.

My question now is what sort of haircut should I get?

I was thinking something like this but with a bit more edge?

this is me now

(see my inspiration for this pic XD )

I dont want to lose my edge and refuse to be the khaki wearing fit in with the crowd trans guy. I want to be edgy, and no matter what I do my face will be round. Admittedly I am a bit fruity, I like big rings and thin brows but I NEED for my own sanity to be able to be a fruity MAN.

I want to do a dark reddish brown (my skin is alot darker in person than in that photo) and a messier version of the photo I posted. Would that look ok? Would it be masculine enough or does anyone have any other advice on  hair?

Thanks so much guys.

Btw Im sorry for the long post. I am just trying to make some small amount of sense ^^;

You may like having an edgey style to you, and there's no problem with that. It's just harder to pass pre-T with some of the styles so you have to try to find the right one for you that wont show off feminine features. For example, with your current mohawk, sideburns like that aren't very masculine. Guys with mohawks tend to not have that style going on, they're usually short and squared off. So you can definitely get a haircut that's unisex like a mohawk, but people style it a certain way that marks the two different sexes.

The one you've got linked there looks like it'd work well. I don't think there would be too much harm in styling it a little, but I wouldn't be able to tell myself unless you actually got it done and played with it a little.

An edgey kind of haircut is possible as long as you masculinize it some. Keep in mind, it'll take more than haircuts to pass, and I don't mean clothing either.

For some reason, perhaps its my pride or some other silly thing but I feel that Ive done  just about everything in my power to do pre-T. I have been told by strangers that If i hadnt opened my mouth or had such 'cute' hair they would have thought i was a man by my posture and general attitude.

So I figured change the hair, lose the makeup and wear darker colors with less feminine styles.

Sadly, Until I can get to a doctor (I like 45 miles from the nearest city) I cant start T and there are alot of things that wont change, I just need to figure out how to deal with things as they are now.

Thank you muchly, however, for your input. Im hoping to get a cut like that and see how it works out for me. If its too bland or just isnt me, itll grow back eventually.

Sadly, I think most of us are in the boat where we can't pass until we get on T for the sake of our voices. It happens to most of us, so you're not alone. I, myself, pretty much pass as long as I don't speak and I've realized there's nothing more I can do but play the waiting game.

Haha, I guess I'll just be reallly quiet for a long time. Its a ->-bleeped-<-ty realization, I sound like a little boy more than anything, which throws alot of people off when I'm wearing something rather Dandy.

It just makes me more motivated to find a way to pay for T.

I toned down my style a hell of a lot because I wanted to be seen as male

I passed alot more when I had normally styled short black hair and wore plain baggy jeans and a baggy shirt to hide the curves.

The passing was nice, but I got bored, I soon went back to my patterned skinny jeans and bright hair. Pass a lot less now, but at least I'm being myself. I figure it's not permanent, I'll be on T eventually, then I can finally be seen as a the flamboyant boy I really am, and not a punky lesbian :P

I've actually struggled a lot finding my "male" style...just passing is all fine and dandy, but I don't want to look mundane or like my mother dressed me. I used to go goth, chain pants and all black and dyed hair, piercings...but like some people pointed out in my own "passing" thread, my piercings were too androgynous to pass consistently and my normal clothing style doesn't exactly lend itself to passing. Now it's finding a look that I can afford to buy, like the look of, and can pass consistently in.

On a side note, I played around with photoshop a bit and gave myself a more masculine jawline and removed my piercings with a new pic, and packed on more makeup than I've ever worn in my life to blend in my rosy cheeks and add the illusion of a more defined forehead...and my god I'm a sexy beast :D Here's hoping T is as kind to me as my wacom tablet...

I have to say, though I know pictures can be misleading, from the picture I never would have questioned your gender. You look like a dude. (and a hot one too :icon_redface: )

I would still say the current picture still reads femenine. Your jawline is very femenine (sadly not much can be done about that pre-T) but the faux-sideburns look out of place with that...they also don't lay naturally, as they're not actually attached to where sideburns would. I'd just square em off instead of trying to fake them, as right now it seems like your face reads much younger than your hair (especially with the cigarette, I wouldnt clock you at more than 14-15). You might have to deal with a more conservative cut with some interesting color for now...also, the sideburns might make your face look wider, which will also make you look younger.

I agree; ditch the sideburns. And the piercings might be cool and alternative, but they call attention to your lips, which are pretty feminine. T will help that, but without it, you should call attention away from your lips. Maybe get rid of those and go with eyebrow or ear piercings. I had 8 ear piercings before transition, and now I only wear jewelry in one anymore. I'd say, get rid of the sideburns, and keep only the hair on the top of your head longer. It should help.

Sorry to say but it's the entire look really - the hair, the nail polish, the piercings, the makeup, the jewelry, the clothes, the eyebrows - all that stuff reads female unless you're unambiguously male. You'd really have to pass 100% to pull off all you've got going on. Yeah, I know there's guys into the alternative look and all but they don't have a female biology working against them. Otherwise you just look like one of a zillion goth girls (at least that's what they were called when I was in school) walking around.

A lot of guys don't pass pre-T, don't let it get to you. You can either tone it waaay down and try to pass or just wait for T to work its magic.
Not trying to bruise any egos, I had a hell of a time passing pre-t as well (still do matter of fact).

i dont really think piercings hinder your passing.  i had/have a ton and it didnt seem to make a difference either way with me passing.  (was pre-T pre-piercings and post piercings)

my ears were stretched though (and yours too) which i think seems more masculine.

one thing i have noticed is that when you have a mohawk/fauxhawk it makes your head apear longer, therefore less round.
