L.A. Johnson: The numbers we used are estimates at best from experts in the field. As today's story indicates, the term transgender is an umbrella term and a self-defining term that can include people who've had the surgery and people who haven't, people who have taken hormones and people who haven't.

Concerned: For decades people may have done these changes in secrecy. Now it is being "accepted in our society" that to bring it out in the "open" is OK. Why do you think Danny's children don't want to talk to her?

L.A. Johnson: It's my understanding that it's often difficult for family members to understand and accept a loved one's desire change. In some cases, family members eventually work through it and reconcile with their loved ones and in some cases, family members can never understand or accept their loved one's desire to change.

Agent1: I just got done reading the story about the transgender. He ended up doing all that to end up being lesbian in the long run?
