There was no such thing as boys clothes or girls clothes. We all just wore what we wanted.

If I had my own clothing store, I wouldn't have separate sections.  But I don't.  Oh well, I don't care much anyway, if I'm wearing "women's" clothing.

Ah But it isn't the clothes.

If boys wore pretty dresses etc and girls wore daggy jeans and sweat shirts, I would be wearing daggy jeans and sweatshirts so I could blend in.
Make for an intersting life. And here is Gov Arnold, wearing a tight pink mini and matching bustier and six inch heels; showing off his muscular tan body and legs. The first lady as usual is in a plain suit and, I belive she is wearing sandals :o

Ditto. As much as I get annoyed some times with the gender separations in clothes, it really does make life more interesting.

My clothes shop is going to have lots of shapes nicked from historical costume that can be worn unisex, mix and match as whim requires.

I don't think life would be any less interesting if clothes weren't classified as being "male" or "female." I don't think Kyle meant that clothes should be all the same and boring, just that there should be no classifications.

I think that would make it more interesting, since a lot of people use their clothing to represent who they are, how they feel on a certain day, or for other reasons, it would only increase the amount to choose from.

Cultural differences apply too.  I love wearing a sarong but while I can walk around perfectly normally in parts of Asia, I only wear it indoors here in the UK.   Well once, a friend and I went down to the local liquor store in sarongs and the lady behind the counter didn't bat an eyelid...she said:

"I get people in their dressing gowns and pyjamas coming in here so a couple of guys in skirts is fine"

hehe

If there were no classifications, that would mean any gender would wear whatever they want which is fine actually....do what you want, but.....I guess if anything I like the difference between the sexes and avg. clothing choices is one of those things. Women and men look better on avg. in womens or mens clothes respectively, whatever cultural, historical or individual reason that came about to be what it is, it is that way for a reason and makes sense to me.  I don't think we should all be androgynous sexless creatures...sorry.

For example skinny jeans the girl kind are made to curve the female hips, butt and legs; Men wearing girl skinny jeans just wouldn't--Work--The two sexes have two different body structures and not to mention a guys pallie wacker would be crushed in those kinds of jeans.

But they do make skinny jeans for men -- That have more room and are still tight but a little loose.

What I'm basically saying is, It's fine to wear what you want; But there is a separation of clothing for a reason but who says that you have to listen?

If you want to wear fashionable clothing do so, but getting it in your body structure is healthier.

Like Scottish men wear kilts--And if you knew this or not, men actually wore heels before girls (It was used for balancing), but human bodies have structures and there is no point in ignoring it.

Just embrace your body and just wear the same clothes as an guy/girl would wear but for your desire and the body type that matches you! =]

In the spirit of the OP:
I think the world would be a better place if obese people were banned from wearing spandex.  ~Shudders~

But in the spirit of the flow of the threads.  If people were just allowed to wear what they want without the social pressures to fit into a mold.

Janet

Why pick on obese people, I bet there are some here.  Besides, I would imagine that they would much prefer to wear the same cloths everyone else does.  They probably wish there was a better variety of affordable cloths and styles as well.

There are many out there who shouldn't wear spandex, but then that's just my opinion. :)

Speaking stereotypically:

The reason there are classifications is because men normally pick plain clothes because most aren't concerned about fashion, or clothes that look cute. Most want to show their manliness. Because flowers are pretty, and typically girls  like pretty things, some clothes are decorated in them. Since girls like these things, for a guy to wear a skirt with flowers on it, would be showing he's more feminine. Most men typically, even if they understand it's ok to be feminine, like to assert their masculinity.

It's all because of stereotypes. Stereotypes are real even though everyone likes to deny them.

It's nice being able to express yourself with clothes. I'm glad that I can show my more feminine side by putting on a skirt. I would do it either way, because they are cute, and comfy
