Well, there are now 3 people at work who know about me, aside from the HR manager. One of them has done a remarkable job at acting completely normal. The other two have made an extra-special effort at being nice to me, as if they just found out I have cancer or something.
I appreciate the effort, and it's a lot better than the alternative, but it's also a bit disconcerting.
Anyway, this week the rest of management is going to be told, and then I will be coming out to the staff in general at the monthly all-employee meeting in the last week of October, probably the day before my birthday. Well, happy birthday to me!
I hope it goes well.
I think it will. I'm really lucky to work at a company that has been willing to work with me closely to manage the coming out process.
