``There is nothing worse than being ignored, not being acknowledged,'' Robinson said. ``Just to name LGBT people in the list of others who are poorly treated in the world, along with people of color and women ... just to sit in a pew and hear yourself named, recognized that you are in the room, is astounding.''
Robinson said that about 90 percent of the discrimination faced by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is the church's fault but stressed that the church can play an important role in changing society's attitude. He told the group of about 70 spiritual leaders assembled at the Radisson Plaza Hotel & Suites to notice that there are LGBT members in their congregations and asked them to adhere to the same Hippocratic oath as physicians.
``First, do no harm,'' he said. ``If it's good enough for physicians, its good enough for us.''
