Mutt

Hello.
So, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on the transition. On where I could get help to start the transition, and all that. Also, I have another question. At what age did you knew you wanted to be a guy? I know I've always wanted to. But, you know the parents stuff and all that. How did you tell your family about you wanting to be a guy? Any tips on any good doctors? Or clothing, mabe? Or some way to start binding your chest, and what do you need for work, school, (with this I mean what do you need to get accepted as a man, how long must you be there, problems you could face, etc).  What's the price for the operations, testosterone, how long does the transition takes?
Thanks!

Also, I've already known who I am for years, so I'm pretty sure that I want to do a surgery and initiate treatment as soon as I'm able to do so.

Hi Mutt, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 3500 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out

Blessed Be.

Welcome!

The best way to start transition is to find a gender therapist or a therapist who has worked with people with GID(gender identity disorder) before. This will depend on what area you're in. As for when I knew I was born in the wrong body, I knew since I was 4 and able to establish differences between the sexes. I essentially blurted it out to my parents when I did find out. It wasn't me wanting to be a boy, I knew I already was one, just in the wrong shell.

As for clothing, women get off easy with wearing men's clothing, so you should have no issue with someone thinking you're weird for wearing them... unless you live in a conservative country or state/province/territory. I would avoid binding methods such as ACE bandages because you can do it wrong and potentially hurt yourself. Look into getting a good binder.
Don't be scared to fly alone, find a path that is your own
Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours
Don't hold back and always know, all the answers will unfold
What are you waiting for, spread your wings and soar

I never "wanted to be" a guy -- if it was ever a case of "wanted to", I could have shut it off over time, like I was able to shut off how I "wanted to" get transferred to the genius school when I was seven, or how I was able to shut off how I "wanted to" be taller when I was in junior high.

If I ever "wanted to" be a guy, I could have just as easily made myself "want to" be a girl -- and then my live would have been so much easier, because I was pretty, had giant tits, and somehow emitted this "Domme vibe" that eradicated being talked down to, like some young women I know claim to experience.  Much, much easier than my life as a short, "->-bleeped-<-gy" (as in "homosexually inclined" AND as in "yeah, he's a hairdresser -- go figure") guy; only difference is then I was having the easiest time being miserable, and now I'm having the damnedest time, but couldn't be happier.

Now, if your question was intended to be "when did you first acknowledge, if only to yourself, your real gender?" my answer is "I was five".

I think the nun who ran my kindergarten class may have told them about that incident, but I never formally told my parents what my actual gender is.  My mother has been out of the picture since I was twelve, and my father died when I was twenty-one.  My mother really pushed "feminine" things on me as a kid, but my father seemed to figure some things out himself.

Where do you live?

t-vox.com has a good list of doctors on their wiki page, sorted by location.  Other than that, I can only really be of service to you if i know where you live -- and even then, I'd be most helpful if you live in SouthEast Michigan or NorthWest Ohio -- which is the area I'm most familiar with.

This will vary by location and by doctor.  I'm on Medicare & Medicaid, for example, and went in for surgery with macromastia (my bra size was 38-K), and because the surgeon was willing to leave my TS status off the appeal, it was covered in full with a note from my primary care physician confirming that this was to relieve the tension on my scoliosis (though, I should note, she's also fully aware of my TS status).  And apparently, the people at Walgreen's are billing Medicare for my testosterone injections under something applicable, so my co-pay is $1.10 for a ten-injection vial.  Most of the guys at my local TS/TG group, though, paid over $4K for chest recon out-of-pocket, and are apparently buying their testosterone from on-line chemists which they say costs around $50 for a ten-injection vial.  Your mileage may vary.

I cant say Ive known I was male my whole life but my first memories of being the wrong gender were at 4 years old. Everyone is different though. I don't think you should be rushing into surgery. This is a big deal and you need to know if this is what really want. Though you can go out and wear guys clothes, just wear whatever you wish that doesnt scream female and youll be fine.

i just thought id point out that a "10 injection vial" doesnt really mean anything.  some people do weekly, some people 10 days, or 2 weeks, or 3 weeks... you get the picture.  so the doses change and the amount of injections per vial change.

In my case, it means something.  I can squeeze ten fortnightly injections out of a single [volume] vial.

careful there, with basic math, someone could deduce your dosage, and thats a violation of the TOS (#8).

if i wasnt so inflammatory i could be a mod.   ::)   >:-)

Good thing I habitually underestimate other people.   :D

And here I thought being "inflammatory" went part n' parcel with being a Mod.
