I need money advice

Robin.

I've worked out an outline for all that I will need in line with transitioning.
and I figure that my final price may come to around 40,000 dollars. (not including electrolysis and hormones) But I don't know how I'm going to pay for it all. After hormones and electroysis, the first thing I'd like to do is get FFS get a brow bossing and hair extension, that could come to around 8,000 dollars. Then maybe I'll get the voice surgery IDK about that yet... My problem is that I don't know that I'm going to be able to get a good paying job in alabama that would accept me as who I am. So on like 10$ an hour I don't see how I can pay for everything. I could take out loans, but I really don't have any credit yet seeing as I've never owned a credit card or got a loan. And while my dad could easyly get one I don't think he plans on helping me much... he's already trying to push me out of the house.  :'( what do I do....

Gurl, you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders, & are well able to prioritize without help. In fact you sound intellegent & motivated enough to make it happen. Use that head of yours & break things down  as much as you have to  without going off the rails. Keep your eyes on the road & your hands on the wheel. If you're in the back seat, your hands can't reach the wheels.

:D thanx, that made me feel better, I guess I'm feeling a little down, because i don't have everything worked out yet, but I know I can do anything I put my mind to as long as I'm not depressed, and knowing that I can become my true self has made much happier than I used to be.

$1000 a month is doable with a second job, and are you using your student loans? I get about $4500 a term in loans that I don't need to live, and except for last term it goes into an untouchable cd. Last term I finally had to get a decent car and of course my itouch (mmm) and do some work on my poor neglected house because I'd been living like a street urchin for so long trying to save money.

I actually have a Pell Grant that pays for most of my colledge, untill this year I havn't had to pay anything for schooling. And this year it was about 600$ but Either next year or the year after that I will have to get student loans. But how does that work? I mean I thought you could only get the amount you need for school itself. And do you have to have good grades? Mine have been horrible or at least a little below average largely because I've just been so depressed over the years and havn't worked hard at all...but thats changing.

You do what you can, with what you got.

I started Hormones and Hair removal, first.

Good luck to you!!! :)

Actually 4500 is a little high, 900 of that is a state grant. It's complicated, but in essence they set a budget based on what they estimate you need and fund it as best they can, usually relying pretty heavily on student loans. It was fun for a while, you could get CDs with better rates than the loans lol. Anyway yea you have to make passable grades, but one failure doesn't ruin the whole show, it's really best to get informed and go ask the financial aid office directly.

Also Pell Grant eligibility immediately qualifies you for
food stamps and state health care in a lot of states, could be worth looking into. I don't get food stamps, but the health plan saves a lot of money.
