Posting this here because it fits with what I think is going on. Basically three years ago I started HRT and everything before that has become increasingly hard to recall. It feels more like a faded dream or like it happened to someone else. Only theory i've had is since I changed the chemicals in my brain that this occurred.

So in short, anyone else feel its harder to recall things that happened before HRT than after?

AH........... I don't remember what I was going to type?  ???

Seriously, No, I have not had a problem.  A trick I learned from an old instructor is to write things down.  So I carry pen and paper in my purse.

If I remember right, long term memory is coded into the brain tissue by acetylcholine, and we know (?) that long term exposure to cross gender hormone therapy changes brain volume and structure somwhat. It's perfectly reasonable to experience what you're describing as not only the chemistry to access those memories has changed, but the physical tissues which actually hold them. This is a fascinating concept, I envision it feeling like watching someone elses dream, where you are familiar with the imagery but it still feels foreign. Is that anything like it?
