Thomasville is the second local government in Davidson County where the issue of same-sex marriage has come up. Last year, the Davidson County Board of Commissioners voted 4-3 to reject a similar resolution. More than 200 people showed up at the meeting, and many loudly groaned at the commissioners' decision.

At this meeting, only a handful of people spoke, and many of them were against the resolution.

I found out about this via ENC.

I personally feel that the government should get out of the marraige business.  I don't believe in tax breaks for married couples (and I'm married) or that there should be tax breaks for dependents.

I do believe that any couple or family can declare themselves a household when it comes to health insurance or legal issues.

When this thing comes up with any of my Mormon family, I ask:  "Do you not think that gay people do not get married in their own churches?"  The law will never prevent that.  So why should it even try?
