I figure I'm about a year away from my RLE. I've got two legal questions thet I'm hoping some one can point me in the right direction. I live in Tennessee were there is no legal protection for gender identity or same sex marriage.

1. I'm a MTF who is currently married to a GG. Currently the state considers me a a male. So the marriage is valid. When I get my SRS done in about 3yrs and I change my gender marker with Social Security and my out of state birth cert. Will my current marriage be considered void?

2. The company I work for has a gender identity protection clause. I've not yet contacted them about my transition. I'm concerned that my wife will loose her health coverage. They do not allow same sex health care coverage.

My legal name change is a big deal to me and having my SRS is also a big deal.

Changing my name isn't a big deal legally and getting them to change my drivers license isn't that difficult either.

I'm I legally required to change my gender with the government?. I don't plan on being in stealth, but i don't want to have a sign on my forehead either.

Has anyone had any experience with this or can point me in the direction of an attorney that can practice law in Tennessee on these matters?

Those are some VERY good questions & although I've no legal knowledge to responsibly try to answer any of them, I would bet on a FED & ST level your marrige will stand.
