Dawn D.

It has finally happened. Last Thursday, Dawn Jerri became my official and legal first and middle name! It's interesting to note how anti-climactic the actual court experience was. It took a whole 15 seconds. That's it, beginning to end of my presence in front of the judge. No drama, no questions, no objections, nothing! I'll now pick up my decree from the clerks office on Wednesday and begin to notify that very long list that I've created.

It does feel great though to now say that I am really Dawn! Just another step on the path!

Congrats Dawn!  Yeah, it is a bit anti-climatic but it has a lasting effect that brings about a lot of inner peace.

If your experience is the same as mine then for the next few months you can look forward to a wonderful inner glow every time you pick up your mail and see it addressed to YOU :)
To those who understand, I extend my hand
To the doubtful I demand, take me as I am
Not under your command, I know where I stand
I won't change to fix your plan, Take me as I am (Dreamtheatre - As I Am)
I started out with nothing..... and I still have most of it left.

Congratulations, Dawn.  It seems like they should make a bigger deal of something so momentous, huh? ;)

Now you get to change all your ID and your name on the records of everyone you do business with.  For me it was a whirlwind.  But the biggest thing to me was that the state, in its infinite wisdom, says I am Katherine at last.  Wow. :D

One more step to the real you.  Hooray! :eusa_dance:

congrats! I get mine done in a few weeks and I'm so nervous. I'm afraid the judge will object or something.

Congratulation, Dawn.  and I agree with the whole anti-climatic court appearance deal.  Mine was the same way.

YAY FOR YOU!!  Don't it feel like a burden has been lifted?  I got my name changed at age 18 because my parent's wouldn't sign for me.  But I don't regret changing my name at all.  My middle name was just missing one letter, so that was easy to change (from "Jo" to "Joe").

I kept my first name's inital because my nephew was so little back then and he was used to calling me a certain name (initals).

But wow, I am so happy for you!!   :)

Will you have to go before a Judge to get yours changed?  I just went to the circut court clerk's office and had it changed in no time.  I didn't have to see a judge.  Nero, where are you from?  I'm just curious because I know that every state in the US is different and other countries are different too when it comes to name changing.
Anyway, good luck to you!   :)

Congratulations.  It's a great name.  My first kiddie crush was with a girl named Dawn in kindergarden.  Wear it well.  I wanted to be her. LOL
