2.)What about all that other hair? Like I have some on my chest and some on my upper legs I would want to get rid of...and then some on my A@#, Can that be removed by electolysis, how long would that take?

laser is good on body hair, facial hair, so-so, with electro, it (total time) depends on the skill of the tech, and the number of hairs to be cleared

call them, might get a BOGO deal for winter

5 minuets or so (of pain), depends on the body area and if lidocaine is used (it takes 15 min to set up/drip down your face and neck)

I just wanted to add that the cheapest electrolysis not necessarily the best. Hire someone based on experience and results, not just price. It also hurts like hell, so be ready. The lady who does mine is fabulous, and it took her just under two hours to clear my upper lip and it had to be done several times... but it had been thinned slightly by laser and I was high on vicodins. She told me normally it would have taken longer because of involuntary flinching but the five vicodins took enough of the edge off that she could really get busy.

She charges $95 for a two hour session. I know it's a lil high but she's SO good and quick that I think it will be a good deal in the long run.

$95 for two hours from an experienced electrologist sounds excellent!

I'd always thought $50-$100 an hour was reasonable. o_O

Laser will either nuke it, (with heat) or weaken the hair root so it doesn't grow as fast.
if it doesn't kill the follicle, there is a chance of the hair being depigmented (little to no color) so that laser won't work anymore (it depends on the melatonin in the hair to absorb energy with light colored skin so it (skin) isn't damaged)

(and yes, I have personal experience of colorless hair after laser as well as where it worked as it was suppose to)

Four Laser sessions in and I am reasonably happy so far.   I am at the frustrating stage wher the vast majority of hir i gone and I am left with a few patches of very fine dark hair.   I have ben told that the top lip isn't really hit until the fifth session and the last session was particularly ouchy.   I am down for six sessions and hope that that will either be enough or only a couple more will be needed.  I have had a few hairs without pigment appearing but I just pluck out those that I see.   Once my laser sessions are finished I am hoping that electrolysis will not be needed as I am extremely phobic of needles

Ultimately, it depends on the person and how much hair is there to begin with.  One friend had very little hair on her face and neck and had it done within 60 hours.  Average is often more in the 200 hour range.

Electro is a slow process, but worth the effort IMO.  Some tricks to minimize the time to completion: 1) Go to electro regularly and 2) Work in a 2 hour block if possible.  I've been going for 2 hours a week for about four months and have made significant progress.  By next summer I should be mostly clear.

Again, your mileage will vary.  If you are not on HRT yet, you might want to wait to deal with this until then.  HRT can have a major effect in these areas, especially for younger folks.

I can't comment much about laser other than to say, every person I know who has tried it has seen some reduction but not permanent removal.

The folks I know who completed it more than 2 years ago have all seen regrowth.  There are new technologies out there and folks who swear they work, but I do not personally know of anyone who has used those technologies far enough back to be sure there is no regrowth from those methods.  We'll know in 2 years or so :p.

I used to go to an electrologist (changed to laser), she told me it can happen there too.
Also, in electrolysis (aswell as in laser) hairs might sometimes grow back a bit weaker, rather than just die and need to be zapped again.

Thing is, laser haven't had as much follow up as electrolysis yet so they can't say it's permanent removal yet from the possibility some hairs might come back.
Another thing is that laser goes over large areas, so it says reduction rather than removal because some hairs might survive, some might not.

I started with electrolysis on my face, did about 20 hours. (or was it 40? think it was 20). Not that much, probably much more needed.

I changed the laser, after one time I barely had hairs left, just small patches here and there. Second time it reduced the patches severely.

Third time, I have singles hairs growing in some places and they might still drop as I am just 2 weeks after laser, still in shedding possibly.

But I had very little hair compared to most people - to start with. Even before electrolysis.

Regarding electrolysis timing, it much depends on the operator and equipment.
Mine was probably not of the fastest options but she cost about 20$ (or a bit less) per hour, not all that bad, but I'd rather just suggest you to laser it.

I paid about 950 USD (more like 3600 NIS) to have 15 laser sessions. (package) - it takes like 5-15 minutes per session and you are hairless rather quick!
