someone i've been hanging around with for a few weeks now is coming over for dinner tomorrow! it was hard for me to ask her, because i knew it sounded like a date... though i don't know if it IS a date. i've been to her house, and out to dinner with her, just me and her, that is, once, but it wasn't really in a way that seemed like a date.

is there a dating advice section on susans? i am not looking for people to date (i know that's not done here) i just need some pointers or comments to help me keep my common sense. i'm kinda nervous. it's been a long time since i was with someone, and even then... with previous lovers, we didn't actually date... so i haven't really done this stuff before! she's older than me so i feel a bit like... well, i'm worried about being a bit less refined and classy than i should.

i also wonder if there will be a moment when the she says "wait, you thought this was a date?" and then my face will turn red and i'll go "NO!" and run down the alley.

no, i won't.

guess i don't have specific questions except....AAAAAAAAAHG! i'm happy, thrilled, and also nervous and a bit scared.
and i needed to talk out some and not in a place were all the dating talk is gender specific :P

That's happened to me before, where a guy I was hanging out with thought there was more going on. Going over to your house and being alone together is a sign. I'd suggest after dinner taking her to ice cream, if she says yes and lets you pay you're in there. If she doesn't think it's a date unless she's a total moron it will register then and you'll see her reaction, but still have the friendship saving claim that "that's not what I meant at all".

it was!! and it went great. and we've seen each other a lot since.

as soon as i saw her and saw she was a little dressed up, i was very relieved!

also, she's very laid back and spontaneous, so i didn't need to be so worried about what you do or don't do on a date.
