First it was the Election Commission and now the universities across the country have suddenly woken up to the fact that India's population includes a few million transsexuals that do not want to be categorised as either male of female.

In a historic move universities like the Shivaji University in Kholapur have taken a  lead in asking colleges to admit transsexuals and stop the discrimination against a section of the population. The battle has gone on for over half a century and 62 years after Independence.
