After Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, which gave India a transgender MLA and a mayor, Rajasthan's Rawatbhata on Thursday elected the state's first eunuch municipality chairperson.
Defeating her nearest contenders from Congress, Annu Sharma, and BJP's Radheshyam, Independent candidate Mamta Kinnar won the seat by a margin of 1,579 votes in the civic polls held on Monday.
