Nooooooooo!!!

Live is my favorite band in the world and I just got the newsletter from their official fan site that the other members of the band kicked out the lead singer.  :(

I'll always cherish the many concerts I've gotten to go to, and the one backstage visit where I got to meet the band!!!!

Live R.I.P.

They were still going strong producing terrific music up until June of this year when they took a hiatus and then BAM break up! :(

As long as he was not the songwriter it might not matter, Journey goes through singers like the Grateful Dead went through doobies.  The current one I think they found doing a utube vid.

But of course, he is one of the head writers ain't he?  And didn't he sign a back-door contract for publishing that cut the other band members out?  (yes he did).

"There was a hidden publishing contract singed in 2005. I personally discovered it via a communication breakdown," Taylor explained in the post. "Ed is listed as the only signature. When I wrote him to find some resolution to the situation, he failed to respond.  Ed was able to stab his three best friends from middle school in the back. This act was far down the line from typical rock star ego.* As you can imagine I am deeply hurt and wounded."

Taylor went on to explain that Kowlalczyk reportedly requested a $100,000 "lead singer bonus" to perform with that band at a festival earlier this year.

"I was informed of his request by our management and politely told them to '->-bleeped-<- off,'" explained Taylor.  "Ed will no longer be the vocalist for the band LIVE. At this point in time, we have made no official plans to replace him but it is clear that he is no friend of mine or the lifelong fans of LIVE."

* - 'typical rock star ego' would included screwing over everyone else in the world, outside of your band mates

Close friends of mine had personal relationships with all 4 of them.  I only didn't because of the environments most of these guys enjoyed.  As far as I've known them for many years they've all been super cool - even willing to hang with "little folks" like myself.  This weird stint by the lead singer didn't start till recently.  It REALLY sucks because they've been together for so long (even before they were a band).  Ed was one of the major talents for both music writing and vocals so the band, if it remains together will never be the same.  I hope the other members joining up with the lead singer of Candlebox will result in some great music.

This weird stint by the lead singer didn't start till recently.

He signed this contract in 2005, four, almost five years ago.  So let me put this in more concrete terms.  For four, almost five years, this guy had screwed the other ones out of a substantial amount of money (really the publishing rights are the most important of all the rights), and pretty much farked them out of any sort of ongoing retirement deal (the publishing rights are the only ones to really go on, and on, and on, and keep paying the writer money) and knowing that, KNOWING THAT, he just smiled, joked with them, and all that, all the while while knowing he had done that. Kicked him out?  I would have buried him out in the desert.

Yeah, in the beginning, its all about fun, girls and all the free drinks you can talk the bar out of, then it's all hookers and blow and all the cases of liquor the place has to come up to fill your rider, and that's a good time too, but at that level sooner or later its about the money, then its no fun.

Oh, and BTW, the other ones in the band are so out of it that it took them four years to figure this out?
