O.M.G. Today I figured I would just have a go at peeing when standing. I'd seen it done in movies, how hard could it be?

I have a long way to go  :embarrassed:

Don't feel bummed about it - a lot of us have trouble first go around. I'm still tinkering with making an STP packy that works for me - the medicine spoons don't do well (too small, i always end up pissing down my leg - putting a turkey baster bulb - cut obviously - helps but still not perfect)....

Practice is the key. You should also play around with different STP devices - both home made (medicine spoon, i heard turkey baster with the bulb cut once) and pre-made (SheWee, GoGirl).

I can speak from experience with the GoGirl - it works. I have only tried that specific one and its really good. Like with all STP devices I find that you can't just 'let loose' if that makes sense you definitly need to control the stream etc. Definitly practise in the shower first - before you turn the water on so you can feel if its not working. And move the object around to find where it needs to be placed - from experience its not where you first think hey!!
But in the end the medicine spoon and the medicine dropper with the bulb cut just don't work for me yet - I probably need to practise a bunch more but the GoGirl works everytime. Its a matter of shopping around and trying different things and positions. If in doubt I have heard people recommend getting a mirror and having a look down there etc - I personally can't do that, I don't really like to acknowledge that part of my body exists but it sounds like an OK idea to find out where your junk is located etc.
I don't know if this helps but this is some of the things I've done, tried or been told...
Cheers

I looked at the shewee and gogirl and they both seem very simplistic in design and very functional (mostly due to the fact that both have wide-mouthed funnels with a curve so it's hard to miss-align vs a medicine spoon) though I'm still disappointed in the lack of DISCREET pre-mades. Seems women on hiking trips could care less if someone sees it.

Another one I found that looks like an interesting medium between the gogirl and a ftm's stp would be a "freshette" (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___80980) in the idea that it has a tube and smaller funnel...though from the website its hard to see how small or descrete it would be. Another site mentioned it was about the size of your hand, don't know if that includes the tubing.

The issue with women's urination systems is they are simply designed with the idea of taking urine away from a body--not recreating the urination of a male. So yes they may work, but generally aren't designed for use with male clothing (a lot of the "how to"s say to pull underwear to the side, and to unbutton/unzip pants and pull down a little to allow for clearance), and again aren't really designed with a covert mind.

Another minor issue I have is with a lot of STP packers...it seems that they either need 2 hands to hold and position or are cumbersome to pack otherwise...I saw a youtube guy who had the issue with 2 hands and used a travelmate inside his STP instead of the tubing, but that was too rigid-looking and I could see me stabbing myself in the stomach with my own dick bending over or something >.<

I actually thought the STPs for Likereal would work, as they have the same idiot-proof funnel the female stps do...but then Jay mentions they're a waste of money. Ugh...any chance of us just starting a compilation thread with pics for STPs we can make?

There are some great youtube videos on how to make STP's. The best way to practice is just with a medicine spoon or bulb end thing. All STP's are just a packer of some sort with a spoon on the end. I agree the whole two hand and positioning thing is a pain. At this point I can only stand in a stall with a door. Dropping my di** into a urinal in front of other guys is something I would rather avoid.

I agree - easy to use in theory and they WORK, but they don't work in the pack very well (i tried with GoGirl and you DO need two hands.) Trying the SheWee next week.

That would be cool - i made one with a turkey baster bulb (worked great but hard to "store" when not using - looking to try something similar but smaller, maybe) and tried the GoGirl (as already stated, two hander - one on the GoGirl and one on the packy.)

The prosthetics here look the most realistic I've seen. If one could be made into a STP it would solve a lot of problems.

I did have a crazy idea and wondered if it would be possible to have one of those actually surgically attached rather than just stuck on with medical adhesive and if it could be designed with a urethra and somehow hooked up with the person's own.

Those are expensive.

And it wouldn't be very sanitary. The flesh/prosthetic barrier could collect bacteria. And the skin wouldn't stick to the prosthetic well enough. So definitely no.

The shewee looks like it would make a better one-handed stp vs the gogirl, as the shewee is solid hard plastic vs the bendy silicone.

Did you watch the response to that video? Another guy used flexible but sturdy tubing instead of a travelmate, eliminating the constant hard-on look and risk of death by dick-stabbing.
