THE tale of a cross-dressing teenage boy living in Northcote has earned filmmaker Damian McLindon a spot at one of Australia's best short-film festivals.

In the seven-minute film, My Girlfriend Jim, Jim starts to dress in his sister's clothes after his Dad trips on his skateboard and breaks both arms, leaving the teenager with all the household jobs.

But Jim soon takes to the wig and make-up, playing football in full female dress.
