The McDonald's manager who left a trans teen a voice message declaring that the restaurant would not offer employment to "->-bleeped-<-gots" has been fired, according to a statement from the McDonald's in question, which is located in Orlando, Florida.

"Sand Lake Road McDonald's has a strict policy prohibiting any form of discrimination or harassment in hiring, termination, or any other aspect of employment in the organization," the restaurant's Dec. 7 statement said, according to a Dec. 7 article posted at ClickOrlando. "The restaurant requires all employees to comply with local, state and federal employment laws."

Hello Rena:

Thank you for taking the time to contact McDonald's and for giving us an opportunity to provide you with the following information.

Please know that McDonald's has a strict policy prohibiting any form of discrimination or harassment in hiring, termination, or any other aspect of employment in the organization. We require all employees to comply with local, state and federal employment laws.

Upon learning about this matter, the restaurant investigated the claims to gather the facts, and action was taken consistent with their employment policies. The behavior of the individual in question is not reflective of McDonald's employment policies.

Further, this individual acted outside the scope of his authority and was not responsible for hiring. The individual in question is no longer employed by the restaurant.

Again, thank you for contacting McDonald's.

Who in the hell - even McDonalds - would keep such a moron around?  He's already going to cost the company a buttload of money, because that person will sue (or someone will sue for her) and MickyDees will settle out of court and all that BS, so McD is in the hole for more money that that idiot is ever going to make for them.

And, like most stupidity, it was totally uncalled for.  As I read that stuff, including her quotes, in no way, shape, or form was she qualified to be a shift manager.  In the first place, I'm pretty sure McDs doesn't have shift managers under 18 because of insurance reasons.  Secondly, they don't have them because of something called child labor laws, anyone 17 is limited in the number of hours they can work, and McDs needs mgr. types basically on-call.  And there is that deal called 'experience' and I know for a fact that shift mgrs. have to have line experience, they have to know every 'position' in the store, and if needed, step right in and do it.  Even if you come in as a 'shift mgr.' from some other fast food type set up you'll have to do a couple of weeks on the line to learn the extra-stupid McDs way of doing things (its about as close to foolproof as anything in the world).

But he is a fool, and that's what fools do, they can mess up anything because they are so darn clever.  All he had to say - and I thought everyone was pretty much trained to say this, I say it all the time - "We found someone whose qualifications and experience more closely matched what we were looking for."  I dare - and so do the corporate lawyers - anybody to sue over that.  It's specific, but vague - perhaps we were looking for someone with more or less experience?  More or less qualifications?  Either way.  Good luck with that.

Come on, everyone.  Sooner or later you might have to turn down someone for a job, and you say..."We found someone whose qualifications and experience more closely matched what we were looking for."

That's it.  That's all.  I'm sure it says that in the 'how to be a shift mgr' 3-ring binder they force them to study.  "We found someone whose qualifications and experience more closely matched what we were looking for."

No, unable to screw up the fries because they automatically raise after the 'perfect' time or whatever - this guy screwed up the whole company.

Moral to the story: Don't be that guy.
just say: "We found someone whose qualifications and experience more closely matched what we were looking for."

I was kind of that guy once  :-\

I used to run a casual dining pizza restaurant, and one day some guy stopped me in the dining room with an application. My servers complained about him touching them inappropriately often, he was a drunk, a racist, a homophobe (I was out by then) and a chauvinist and I couldn't believe he was asking me for a job. I didn't even take his application and told him in no uncertain terms that it would be a cold day before he worked for me, and I wouldn't even let him in the place is my boss didn't make me.

That loser actually went to the corporate hq and works for that company to this day, albeit in another store. It's only a matter of time until he gets them sued and it's all my fault.

I remember once I had really fun a girl apply for a job as a bartender. On her app where it said "sex" she checked neither box and wrote in none currently.

I hired her on the spot.

Most likely not because of the reasons cited by Tekla AND also the fact that is
not illegal to not hire or fire someone because of their transgendered status.

During his rant, the guy said something to the effect of...

"You told me you were a woman...your nothing but a lying brother...->-bleeped-<-got"

I get the feeling that the girl and this guy had some sort of relationship where
the guy possibly "put in a good word" for the girl and was informed by his hiring
manager that this girl was transgendered. He was probably only relaying what
he was told by someone who IS in charge of hiring. Seeing that it is legal to
discriminate against the transgendered. If the guy had substituted the
word transsexual for ->-bleeped-<-got, I wonder if he would still have his job.

We require all employees to comply with local, state and federal employment laws.

As opposed to say putting it down in corporate policy, 'hey, we think the law is an ass.  Who cares?  You don't have to.  Screw the local, state and federal government."

Except for in a precious few states and cities in the U.S., Florida not being one of them,
companies operate completely within the letter of the law, when discriminating again transgendered individuals,
while it is not legal to openly discriminate against someone who is homosexual.

It wasn't made clear in the original article, but at least two different managers refused to interview her, one of whom laughed in her face.

There is no way I would want to work there after that.

Unless there is absolutely no other option - in which case I would - you pretty much don't want to work at McDonalds, any of them.  Ever.
