Not an expert here... but I know that one of the types of birth control that's commonly prescribed mimics the effects of pregnancy, which I think raises the amount of 'female' hormones in your body. I'm sure someone more educated will come along and answer this, though, so don't take just my word on it.
From personal experience, I can say that some people (such as moi) go absolutely wacky on birth control. I took it for a little over four months (tossing the placebo week out) to try and stop my period, and ended up with the
WORST mood swings on the planet. It was like having PMS 24/7. And, it didn't even stop my period. I just spot bled for
two straight months.Never again.
