Need to look 16

I have to cut my hair short, unfortunately and tragically, and I have no idea where to go with this look. I need to have a young, clean-cut, fresh look with a youthful appearance. I'm 18, but I look 21.

I am appearing at court next month (for the car accident), and I don't want the judge to have any prejudices against me, and to feel sorry for me especially. I had a friend of  a friend that stole over $500 of clothing, and basically he just had to pay for court fees. Completely got away with it, and he was 18.

But he looks 16. And his crime is much serious than mine, but I cannot have my future destroy by this. Even if 6 months of growing my hair goes down the drain.

Will this make me appear younger? Is it a conservative look?

My family tells me my hair makes me look like a partier, and 21. And I believe them since when I went to the casino on my 18th birthday, no one ID me. And honestly, I look more attractive with shorter hair even though that's hard to admit.

I have a mustache too (to appear as masculine as I can to the family), and I was talking about removing it, and they were like nooo. But I am going to do that too for the court date, since it will make me younger.

I also weigh 190 lbs, and I am planning to lose some weight for the date. And I am considering in getting eye contacts, like green to make me appear more friendly.

What I'm about to say - though like most of the stuff I say - will not be popular, but...  (that seems to be my job here)

1. You're not going to court for 'having an accident' you're going to court for 'leaving the scene of an accident' which is a very serious charge.

2. I don't care if the judge let the last guy/girl off for an axe murder of their parents, this is you, and it's YOUR case.  And only your case they will be hearing so far as you are concerned. Keep that in mind.

3. That's not a 'conservative look' in a rock band.  A 'conservative look' in Court is pretty much as short as you can get it without looking like some nazi skinhead.

4. I went to the casino on my 18th birthday, no one ID me.
For the love of god please don't tell the Court that as some reason or rational.  Matter of fact, listen to your lawyer, and do what ever they say.  If you don't have one.  Get one.  Ask for a continuance if necessary.

5. Lose the 'stach.  Look younger and they are more likely to wave it.

Going to have to agree with Tekla on this one.
Don't be scared to fly alone, find a path that is your own
Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours
Don't hold back and always know, all the answers will unfold
What are you waiting for, spread your wings and soar

Well I wasn't intentionally leaving the scene of the accident, I had to go home to fix the problem. I couldn't just stand there in the blizzard and hope for someone to help me. And my house was close enough. I was going to call a tow truck.

And the police called me again, and I think he knows he went to far on the charges. He just told me it's going to be a life lesson at the end, and for some reason I don't believe him. That was last month too.

And that's why I have to appear young, so I can look better (like that one guy) if I get the same judge. And I wouldn't tell them about the casino thing, but it's just proof to me that I look old.

And I do have a lawyer already set up.

And thanks. I guess I am going to get a really short hairstyle, I have to look very good on this day, since my life depends on it. If I lose my license or go to jail I won't be able to finish high school, then I will have to drop out or something. And then I can't get my future job (i have a high paying job in the spring time set for myself, and I need to drive there because its far), and my family need me since they are in poverty. And when I went to work that one day it was so I can support my family.

Tekla has this one nailed.

Listen to your attorney.  Do what your attorney recommends.

Let your attorney talk for you.

Tell only the truth.

Good luck!

1. Get a lawyer.
2. Really GET A LAWYER
3. GET A LAWYER!

Sure, you had a reason.  Great, it it was me, that might be enough.  But only a total idiot would make me a judge, for fear of the next Roy Bean.

The reality, the FACT, is you left the scene of an accident.  It's up to a lawyer to try to get what are called 'mitigating circumstances' into evidence.  If you don't know how to do that, it might not even come up.
