Over the last few days 2 things happened...

I got a robe for christmas, I was putting it on, and she said "And you can wrap it up and wear it over your boobs" I gave her a slight disgruntled look, and she corrected herself. "urr your chest"

Then at dinner I came down when she called me (like a dog lol) and when she saw me she said "GOOD girl!" This time I didnt really give her a look, but my face must have given away my annoyance at it, and she said "or boy..."

:D cool huh?

Bah ha ha. Understanding, or humoring you; and either way it's a start.

Ehehe... at least she's correcting herself!

I was a bit shocked this year. Clothes are a decent portion of christmas (since hey, 21 now... don't need toys - or at least the kind you buy in a kids toy store) and i expected to get the usual stuff i rarely wear (light pastel colors, frills, "girly" stuff).

Instead i got gender neutral colors (blacks, grays, blues) and a few cool scuba diving shirts (since dad and i both have our certificates.) Some "womens" clothing, some "mens".

It's a start, lol.

I expect to have to give my folks MANY disgruntled looks when we talk.

Hahar, my dad is doing the same correcting himself thing sometimes. :p "..or boy/son"
It's fun. :D

At the same time he did enjoy getting me some pink and purple Disney socks for christmas. But funnily enough I found I was actually able to wear them quite proudly, I guess it's just ironic now. :p

Haha luckyyyyy. I kinda wish my mom would start correcting herself like that. Ah well... In time, I suppose. ...Probably. xD Still awesome for you though! Definite progress!

Dude, does your mom think you're a dog?
I mean... "good girl"? Who says that to a person in the first place?

People kept saying that to me in the shop.  That made my flinch even before gender dysphoria raised its ugly head but now it makes me want to run away screaming.  "Good boy" doesn't sound much better to be honest...still (probably unintentionally) condescending but its at least gender congruent.

(Also annoying are people who say "well done" after you do remarkably simple things like give them their change.... >:( )

Haha personally the 'well done' people definitely annoy me more. It's like "yes, I can manage to do *insert simple task here*! I did manage to pass second grade, thank you!" But it's all quite condescending. Especially when people say it non-jokingly. Then it's just like "....what? what?"
