I get a lot of second looks and staring (which is kinda embarrassing) from people who don't know me (but if I speak, it's usually m'am, though sometimes they mumble it).  I passed yesterday ;D (which I posted about) so hopefully I'm doing something right.

I'd venture to say 50/50, but I've honestly got the sneaking suspicion a lot of other people don't know what gender I am.
  •

Ryuu

I have passed once in my life. To a starbucks employee. And that also might have been a mishearing. :\

I usually get people staring and using no pronouns. I did pass once though, a couple days ago at a restaurant.  :P

I pass maybe once in 5000 times *sighs*  Hard to pass when you got DD chest crap. I don't bother binding...it ain't gonna help enough to matter.  My voice is a dead give away too :(

I pass most of the time, like 95%.  ;)

I pre-everything, don't bind...

Most of the people who see me first time call me boy and young man, stuff like that...
But I also get a lot of second looks and staring from people who are not sure in my gender.
And some people just ask (usually older people): "Are you a boy or a girl?" I hate to answer to that question... :/

I'd be so happy to get that question.  Better that than the constant assumption I identify as female just cos I look like one  >:(

Well seeing that I've been going to college as a guy for a whole semester now, and no one in my class has even guessed I'm trans, I put all the time.

i seem to pass when i'm not actually trying to but if i'm consciously trying to then i fail. but most people who don't know me call me sir or young man before sometimes correcting themselves

Probably about %85-%90 of the time.
Most think that I'm just a short, skinny boy.
I attribute this to the awesome fact that I am almost flat chested.
I'm also young, so nobody questions it if I look prepubescent or feminine.
When I don't pass, it's usually because I'm not wearing sunglasses (my eyes..very feminine) or they're all up in my face and staring at it.

I'm going with most of the time.

I picked "Most of the time" and 50/50.

I feel bad and lucky at the same time. I passed as a boy long before I even knew I was trans. I just look like a boy and act like a boy, the long hair before just made me look like a metal head or something of the sort. Even with chest, it was usually the chest that gave me away. Then I started binding, which I think caused some confusion and then realization that I was female when I used the girl's restroom or I was called by name.  :-\

Nowadays things are great. Binder flattens me out perfectly, short hair pushes away some doubt and then I've got a wonderfully androgynous voice to go with. I hate how good I am sometimes.  ::)

Now I understand why I'm being punished with breast growth and more female like fat distribution. YUCK!  :o

Oh, trust me, it's not always nice...
Because most of the time I'm with some friends/family member and I hate to hear that question when I'm with someone.
I just smile and say "Girl"...   :(

And I usually hate everything and everybody for the rest of the day...  ;D

Maybe you should try to work on your appearance.
I changed just a small things, and I pass lot more now. :)

Might I ask you college goers how you pass? I'm in college and for the most part things are impersonal and names needn't be exchanged, but it most definitely cannot be avoided. Do you have your names changed or how did you pass completely when a name was necessary? Especially with what you were called by your professors in the non-forum, meaning roughly 20-50 people sized, classes where they would learn and call your name.  ???

I would love to go stealth for Spring semester at the end of this month.    :D

I have passed a few joyfull times here in college... but I just dont look like an 18 year old guy, I am usually called ma'am.. *barf* I probably get pegged as a butch lesbian.. which is funny b/c I'm actually a gay guy.  I do go by Elijah at school though.

I put 50/50 and 'most people don't know'. More and more often, I get long, hard looks lately, and no pronouns used at all. I find that people who don't know me have been pegging me as male more and more often lately (still with no T). It really pays to watch your tone, inflection, manner of dress, and mannerisms.

Also, I was deflected out of a women's bathroom at a movie theatre today. Very glad at the time that none of my family was with me.

My college (community college) actually asked for a preferred name on the application and actually registered me as Carson instead of my legal name, so when they take role they say a male name. I would actually ask the administration of they can put your "nickname" on the role or registration instead of your legal name.

I mostly pass because of my mannerisms, I have worked really hard on my voice and can carry on a full length conversation with a bio male my own age and no one suspects anything(hah even if I screaming at my professor about how wrong he is).
Call me a cheat but I make my own fate.
