New Book Focuses on the Effects of Gender Identity Disorder

Author gives readers an insider's look at the spiritual impacts

http://pfox-exgays.blogspot.com/2010/01/my-transgender-father.html

LONGWOOD, FL—As a young child, author Denise Shick's father very memorably told her, "I want to be a woman." In her tell-all debut book, My Daddy's Secret (paperback, 978-1-60477-677-5), she reveals the spiritual, emotional, and physical impact gender identity disorder has on the ones who suffer from it and their families. Readers will gain a greater understanding of the struggles these beleaguered families must endure. Shick, who has spoken publicly about sexual struggles in workshops and seminars, lends her expertise to this area, bringing readers an insider's look at the emotional pain and spiritual confusion people face when a loved one has gender identity issues.

Says Shick, "There is not enough information being told of the impact gender identity disorder has on children and other family members. This book shares all sides of the impact. We have this issue being discussed in our political agendas; in the schools with a curriculum that encourages our children to question their identity; [and on] TV, which portrays [it] as something to laugh about. Adult children and children are discouraged to fight against what society wants us to accept. I speak openly and honestly about the impact this had on my life."

A fine way to promote a book that is anti-gender expression :icon_rolleyes2:
edit: the linked page above implies it was just available for order, it was first published almost 2 years ago by a company whos claim to fame is "Christian self publishing company Xulon Press makes Christian book publishing affordable for Christian authors and writers using print on demand technology."

edit 2: look who coauthored the book, Jerry Gramckow
(from google search resulting in gramcoink.com) We -- Jerry and Kacy Gramckow -- have been writing and editing professionally since 1996. In addition to serving as an editor at Focus on the Family for nearly six years, Jerry has written and edited for a wide variety of newspapers, magazines, book publishers, and Web sites.

... Denise leads a church-based support group for people with sexual addictions. Denise is the Administrator of Family related issues with TGIF (Transgender International Fellowship). ...

Transgender  International  Fellowship, humorously calling themselves TGIF, is or was a pseudo organization linking several Christian organizations fighting against ->-bleeped-<-. Danny Blackwell set the site up. Denise Shick was the fancy Administrator for Family Related Issues. The members consisted of:

Help4Families

Reality Resources - Which has now merged into Help4Families

New Hope Outreach - A pseudo organization ->-bleeped-<- and homosexuality by Danny Blackwell. May or may not exist anymore.

(needless to say this crap isn't going in the wiki)

This is a bit tongue in cheek, but the blog was so ill written that I was confused at first. Which "she" wrote the book? Pronoun reference failure. How could the father, as a child herself, have a child old enough to have an intelligent conversation with? Dangling modifier. And I have a hard time taking seriously anyone whose sexual struggles seem to be kicked off when she attends workshops and seminars (it sounds like every time she goes to a self-improvement seminar at the local Holiday Inn, she wants to jump everyone she sees.) Misplaced modifier. (Well, the blog doesn't explicitly say that the struggles are HERS, but I'm taking some goofy liberties here...)

Is PFOX (terrible initialism) really a non-profit? My tax dollars hard at work...

According to Amazon.com the book was first published in 2008.  My guess is that PFOX only recently became aware of it.

It is also self-published.  Xulon Press is Christian oriented vanity publisher, which digitally prints a copy of the book only when a copy is ordered.
