I realize this is an OLD thread, but I just tried shaving my chest and tummy for the first time this week, and after shaving twice, I decided this is NOT going to work.  So I bought a wax kit - Alexandria Body Wax, which is more like a stiff gel, not like wax at all, and after heating, it's not even really very hot, and it seems to work really well.  I got my wife to do my back, and when the chest hairs have grown out a bit more, I'll do my front myself.  Not willing to spend the money on an epilator yet, but so far I think waxing is DA BOMB!

I waxed my legs the other day using cold strips - not hardly painful at all. I trimmed all the hair down to around 3mm first (I'm a furry beast for now). I'd Veet creamed my arms and torso, so now I have to wait for the hair to grow out enough to wax them, as I'm still scared after my first epilator experience - apparently that gets a lot less painful after waxing a couple of times, as there's way less hair being plucked at once. I'm very pleased with how my legs came out, it took around a hour and a half (hey, I have long legs, okay?)

While I was doing my legs, I waxed a bit too close to Brazil, if you know what I mean, and discovered why they say "pull the skin taut first" - if you don't, it's both painful and leaves blood bruises at the hair roots, not good.

I've only done this for a year now and in limited areas, but what about burning hair off? Cover your areolas...

I got my chest waxed,  once.   The pain was tolerable,  but the hair grew back too fast to justify the cost.   I now have an epilator, that leaves me with terrible red bumps for days.   Ugh.  I suppose I'm back to shaving, since burning it off with fire isn't generally recommended.

Exfoliate and shave before hand to reduce pain

I waxed and loved how smooth it was so I went and have had lots and lots of laser!

Old topic.  But for benefit of others... for body hair i receive laser hair removal and the local cosmetology school. Cheaper than pros and gives students some training and variety of body parts (whichever parts you want).  There is an instructor in every session and they don't need to know you are trans etc.  I just tell them i cannot stand any body hair. it is one of my hangups.  Do the timing it is usually different students each time as well.

Hi bunnitech

My name is Sarah and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that other members of Susan's have also welcomed you as well.

Thank you for sharing the cosmetology school laser tip.  A training clinic really can be a win win: lower cost for us and real world practice for the students, all under an instructor's eye.  I like your approach of simply saying "I cannot stand body hair" without needing to explain anything else.  Clear, precise, direct and it keeps the focus on the service.

For anyone curious about other methods, here is what worked for me.  I used to have my legs waxed and I waxed my face too.  Electrolysis followed on my face for the stubborn strays.  A couple of years later, after starting HRT, I noticed the hair on my legs had become so fine that it would break off at the surface.  Since then I have never need to have my legs waxed.  These days I need a magnifying glass just to spot them.  Go figure.

Every body is different yet the goal is the same: finding a routine that makes you feel comfortable in your own skin.  Your laser school idea adds one more good option to the list.  Thanks again for bringing it up and I hope you feel right at home here.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these issues as well.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Best Wishes Always
