With the help of Lemmond's girlfriend, M. Allyson Scotton, a junior biology major, TRANSaction was formed.

"The goal of the group is to build a community and share ideas – it's important for people to be informed" on the often misunderstood issue of ->-bleeped-<-, Scotton said.

The group has had five meetings so far and is still working on its constitution to present to the Lee H. McCaskey Center for Student Involvement and Leadership.

When asked if he meant to become a leader of transgender causes, Lemmond said, "When I'm passionate about something, I'm really passionate about it.  If everyone's afraid to do it, I think it's necessary to step up because it's the only way we're going to get [our message] out there."
