From Hammersmith station, Fulham Palace Road is south.

South is the direction of the sun at mid-day. In the morning it is in the south east, in the afternoon it is in the south west.

Just walk down Fulham Palace Road looking for 179-183

Just had a look at a different map.

It's just past Charring Cross Hospital. Pretty certain it's on your left as you walk down Fulham Palace Road away from the station.

(Ohhh, and I wish I was going).

I'm sorry, Hazard.

It's still only early Sunday afternoon in the UK.
Isn't there any way you can find the money today for the train for tomorrow's appointment.
Nobody you can borrow it from?

I don't want to upset you in any way because it sounds like you're having a hard time and we all go through bad times and all know that they're not fun.

Having said that, the psych at my NHS clinic has said on numerous occasions that they take into account how hard you are willing to work for your transition and how far you are willing to go to make it happen. Transition on the NHS is definitely not an easy task. Nor is it straightforward. Events and practicalities will get in your way and make a difficult thing seem almost impossible. It's up to you to make it possible if this is what you want.

There are ways to apply for financial aid to get to a gender clinic if you cannot afford to travel there.

Some clinics will refund travel expenses if you show them receipts/tickets.

9.30am is not too early for an appointment if you really want it.

I know this because I live 4 hours away from my clinic and still made/make 9am appointments, even when I had no job and no money.

I think maybe you need to look at what you really want. Transition is definitely, definitely sent to test us.

I have to second what Tay said.

The reality of this is that there are not enough professionals involved in transsexual health care.
They are all booked up for months.
Sometimes there are cancellations because of patient's circumstances or cold feet.
The patients that get to fill in these slots are the people who are flexible.

I have always just asked when the next available appointment was.
Then I just made whatever arrangements I had to make to get to the appointment.

My favorite example is one where I had to go out my door at midnight and returned at midnight 24 hours later.
Oh, yeah, and the appointment lasted 15 minutes!

Try to get the January appointment.
Don't put your life on hold for 1/2 a year for a July appointment.

maybe i should call them again and make it for 9.30

IV JUST ->-bleeped-<-ED EVERYTHINK RIGHTTT UP!
  •

Renate

I'm sorry to hear that.
Accept the July appointment but tell them that you'll take anybody's cancellation on 24 hour's notice.

i have the 23rd, she did try and look but the only one they had was july... why it couldnt have been the end of jan... Anouther 7mths. Now i just think its never going to change, No i keep thinking im going to be stuck like this forever,  I new this ment the world to me but i never new it would bother me this much i now i have other one booked But i just fill like iv ->-bleeped-<-ed it up...
  •

Tay

Seriously, if you ask for advice, take it.

Tell them you will take a cancellation on 24hrs notice, as Renate said. If you call them now, they won't know they have a cancellation (because they won't know until someone cancels!!) so they won't be able to offer it to you yet.

No one is going to hold your hand through this and no one is going to do it for you. Make it happen or forget about it.

Dude, you haven't ->-bleeped-<-ed it up completely. It's a delay, yeah, but that's all it is - you have another appointment set up, and the 6 months will go fast enough.

My advice for next time - make sure you have the money, and don't let anyone else spend it. If you're on benefits, you can get your travel expenses refunded when you get to the clinic, so make sure you keep your receipts and go to the main hospital to get your refund - although you did say something about being paid next Friday, so maybe that doesn't apply to you.

Noah, it took me 19 months from first going to my GP to starting T. This included a long wait to see the local psych, as my GP took ages to find out where to refer me. I then waited about 5 months for my first appointment at CX (after seeing the local psych) and then another 5 months for my second CX appointment, after which I started T. This was a few years ago now though (I've been on T almost 2.5 years) and I think waiting times for appointments at CX might have increased slightly since then. Hope that helps give some idea of the timescales involved!
