The decision to go through with sex reassignment surgery is huge. Not only is it major surgery; it's also a major life change. I'm never going to pee the same way again. I will have a vagina, clitoris, and labia! I'm going to have to "babysit my vagina," in the words of my therapist, for the rest of my life, although the frequency of babysitting declines over time. I will give up whatever is left of my so-called male privilege when I have my penis inverted and refashioned.
