Hey guys!

I called Dr Garramone on thursday and ive made a booking for my top surgery!! ;D  Its in December, 11months away but it still feels great knowing that im getting it done!  Now the only problem is getting all the money together.  Living on a completely different continent on the other end of the globe doesnt help with the funds...ohwells, what needs to be has to be done!  And im glad ive got a 3rd job now :)

Woot, congrats!

The Asia / Pacific region is sorely lacking in decent top surgeons (especially for DI, there are some very good peri's done 'round these parts though).

I don't blame you for taking on the logistical and financial nightmare of crossing the globe. I'd be doing the same given half a chance!

congrats, Dr Garramone would probably be my first choice if I lived in the US.

Noah, there's absolutely nothing stopping you from saving up and going to a surgeon in the US - that's what I did. Yes, you'll have to pay privately, but the guys in the US have to do that anyway. And JoshB already said he lives on a different continent at the other side of the globe, so that's what he's doing. If Garramone's the person you really want for your susrgery, you can make it happen!

I've been seriously considering this but how long do you have to stick around for before you can fly back home again and what happens if there are any complications?

I was advised to stay around for at least a week afterwards - I actually stayed for 2 weeks before going home, so that I could have some holiday time as well. With complications, you'd either go to your GP or your local A&E, depending on how urgent it was. If you need a revision of some sort, you'll either need to pay privately over here, go back to your surgeon (many of them include free revisions in the fee anyway) or wait to be referred by your GP to someone in the UK. I reckoned it was worth the risk, as I figured the chances of complications were tiny, and I really wanted to go to Dr Brownstein in SF for my surgery (though Dr Garramone would probably have been my second choice).
