Hi there ladies,

I just had a quick qstn.  I have a friend who's daughter is MTF and i wanted to compile a list or just give a few suggestions of popular surgeons that perform SRS for MTF - just to give her a bit of a start - and maybe why you chose those surgeons.  I know there are lists of them but i prefer those that ladies have actually used.
Really appreciate the help!

Cheers,
Joshua

I chose Dr. Suporn because I like his results, and they are really helpful in setting up everything.  I have also heard some really amazing things from people about the care they provide.

Downside, he is in Thailand which is a long haul.

A not all inclusive list of active surgeons (I need to work on it but not until after some things are sorted out in my life)

I had Dr. Marci Bowers for my GRS because I'd heard amazing things about her.  All of them turned out to be true.  I have nothing but praise for everything she did for me & my BF whilst we were in Trinidad.  She's a very compassionate woman & a marvelous surgeon.  I'm almost 8 months post-op & I haven't had any complications.

I'm most likely going to go with Dr. McGinn because she's in the same state as me and I like the SRS results I've seen.

I'm also going with Dr. Mcginn in June because of the good things I've heard about her, here and elsewhere. After meeting her in person I was very impressed.

I am a McGinn girl and I am ecstatic about the results.

Also Dr. Christine McGinn is a trans woman herself and intimately understands the issues about transsexuality.  She did her residency with Dr. Bowers.  She is a wonderful, compassionate person and an excellent surgeon.

If you have any specific questions, either post them here or feel free to drop me a PM.

I'm planning on either McGinn or Bowers.  Probably Bowers since she's closer to me geographically .  Most surgeons have "after" shots so you can get an idea of how their work turns out.  Both surgeons seem to get results that look very good (and very similar, but McGinn trained under Bowers, IIRC).

I'm another McGinn girl. The results are fantastic. I consider McGinn to be the next American superstar GRS surgeon.

I pretty much know I am going to Have Marci do my surgery. If I didn't well neither her nor any of our other friends would let me live it down.

I'm a Bowers girl too.  I was very impressed with Dr. Bowers & her staff.  The quality of care was beyond what I expected & my GRS results are outstanding.

I went to Dr. Sanguan in Thailand.  This is his website:

I still get teary-eyed when I see photos of Phuket.  He was insanely nice with my parents & I.  I chose him because of his fees & travel arrangements.  I also knew some girls who had gone to him & were very happy with their surgery outcome.

I've pretty much decided on Dr. Watanyusakul (when I eventually get my letter), for various reasons. One reason is the relative affordability of surgery and recovery in Thailand compared to the cost surgeons in my region (Brassard and McGinn). When it comes to a surgery so important, evaluate EVERY option diligently. Most people only get one go at it :P. When dealing with your health and happiness, the best I can really say is caveat emptor.

i chose dr. marci bowers because she was closer to me at that time.  having been trained by the eminent dr. biber, she brings extensive expertise to her grs patients.  i also wanted the one-stage procedure.

Agreed!

In this day and age, a 2-stage seems like a deal breaker. I could understand if this were the '90s, but there are so many surgeons that do a single stage now.

Well my original surgery was done so long ago that the surgeon concerned is no longer with us.

However for my upcoming 25 year MOT and cosmetic touch up I'm going with James Bellringer in the UK. He was trained by Mike Royle but has been developing his own techniques and the results seem pretty good.

Another Bowers' girl here.  Why am I a Bowers' girl? Because Marci simply rocks!

I am think of Dr. Nguyen in Portland.  He trained under Dr. Meltzer and he is close to home.

I also went to Dr. Kunaporn.  I've got no regrets whatsoever.

When I get SRS (in the fall of 2011), I will be going with Dr. Kunaporn as well.

It's ironic how so many of you wish to have a one-step procedure whereas I actually wanted a doctor who performed a two-step.
