Hey everyone, I finally got all of my ridiculous bloodwork out of the way. They required me to have CMP, CBC, TSH, lipid, liver, and prolactin panels, full pelvic exam/pap smear and breast exam(blech), consent form, letter, conference with clinic owner, gahh. It took a couple months and about $700 to do all of the preliminary crap, but finally, FINALLY!

I had my first shot today! They pretty much capped me in the butt in a few seconds flat and I left, that was 16 hours ago, so next time I'm going to have to ask to be allowed to watch more closely so that I can become more familiar with the process and learn to self inject more quickly. They're starting me at a half dose every couple of weeks, to start off, then bumping me up to the full dose after a month or so.

I understand that physical changes take quite a bit, months and years to culminate, but I'm curious to know, for those of you on T, did you notice emotional/psychological changes happening that you believe were hormonally induced? I'm curious as to what and when this has happened for other guys; during the course of the first month, does pretty much nothing happen??

Thank you, and wish me luck! <3

First of all: yay!  Okay.  I don't know have any firsthand experience with hormones, so that's about all I can say.  I hear nothing much happens in the first month except emotional changes, although some people report a few little change in that time.

For me, in the first month, my voice started breaking. I probably started a bit of hair growth too, but I can't really remember that closely - but my voice definitely started dropping almost immediately.

Congrats!! That's awesome

As for the first month - mostly mental changes for me.  I did have a few physical things though - growth and more sensitivity downstairs, increased strength, and my voice felt different to me, like I had a cold, even though it sounded the same to everyone else.

Congratulations!

Tomorrow will be my one month on T, so it's all still fresh in my mind what's happened so far.  The first thing I noticed was an subtle, but noticeable increase in my little guy within the first week (maybe even first few days).  I also had more energy, and when I work out, I'm actually able to see the results from it (increased strength and muscle mass).  I did gain a little weight, but it's the holiday season, so I'm not considered about that yet.

Yesterday, I saw looking at myself in the mirror and saw that the little peach fuzz hairs on my upper lip are just slightly darker than normal.  Whether that's an effect of T or not, only time will time.  My voice hasn't changed much, or at all, from where I started out.

I was going to the gym pretty regularly right before the new year hit, at which point I put it down for a couple of weeks (drinking, partying, post-party nesting and all that) I think I needed the break, but it's about time for me to resume... So you noticed a difference in energy/response when it came to working out within the first month? (I'm currently pretty skinny, and I put on tiny amounts of lean muscle fairly quickly when I weight train, but it goes away as lightning fast as it came without constant maintenance.)

Okay, so it's relevant to be concerned about getting a little belly this early on? I'll try to take that into account and nip it in the bud if I can. Thanks! I was under the impression that nothing physical would happen in the first month.

I'm not real worried about physical changes right now, since I understand those don't start happening 'til later, but I am curious as to what mental/emotional changes have taken place for other guys early on... Though I imagine it's difficult to measure whether or not a psychological shift is hormonal or due to some external, non-T related factor, any shared details from the journeys of other guys regarding emotional/mental changes would be appreciated, too! Thanks, guys!

My first month was... not very fun. The best I can explain it is that it was pretty much like menopause (since the ovaries were shutting down). Hot flashes, cold flashes, flushing, night sweats, irritability and for some reason my skin tasted like metal. ??? But they finally pasted after several weeks.

These symptoms may have happened because of my age since I don't hear about younger guys going through this. Then of course there's the T changes that start too.

Edit: I forgot to add that I was super hungry all the time. I still ate moderately because I knew if I ate as often as I wanted to I'd gain massive weight. The insane hunger lasted only for a little while too.

I didn't start really trying to get into shape until summer 2008, but I never really worked out.  I mainly just ate better and pushed myself more in my daily life (taking the stairs, walking instead of driving, etc).  So when I finally got on T, I decided to start interval training and strength training.  I definitely noticed more energy than usual (I'm lazy by nature).  However, I slacked off around Christmas because all the good food and gained some weight (about 2.5 lbs), more easily than I thought I should have.  Whether this was because of what I ate or because of T, I'm not really sure.

Basically, unless you plan on eating big meals and a lot of holiday candy, I wouldn't worry about the first month affecting your weight too much.  It was probably just the timing for me.

Mentally, no real changes other than I'm more confident and feel like all this research and waiting I've done has finally paid off.  Relief. :)

Congrats!

I'm about 2 weeks on T, tomorrow is my 3rd shot, and I have already noticed changes. Emotionally, I have never felt better,  I feel confident like never before, and if it weren't for me breaking up with my girlfriend of 2 years 3 days after my first shot I'd be the happiest guy in the world.

Physically I have already noticed changes. "Down below" has already grown, sex drive jumped around day 3, I have chest hair already(not sure how I feel about it yet though) and my leg hair is already spreading and getting darker, as is the hair on my stomach.
Call me a cheat but I make my own fate.

So today is day three for me, and while I was in the bath tub rubbing down with some fragrance free baby soap, it was throbbing DOWN THERE. My clitoris. It actually kind of hurt and I was worried I'd scratched it or something, so I got out and left it alone for a while. It didn't cease so I grabbed a hand mirror to take a look at it(this is not abnormal for me, I try to be familiar with my body, so I get concerned when 'weird stuff' happens and try to observe) and it was SWOLLEN! It looks engorged. I immediately began worrying that it's Freaky Clit Disease (since 'nothing happens early on') or something but I'm wondering now if it might be hormonally induced. It isn't bigger, just puffed up, like I've been playing disc jockey with it all day. (I haven't, but it's tempting!)

Emotionally, I couldnt tell you what was caused by T and what was just euphoria of actually being on hormones the first month. I was scared nothing was happening, excited like a kid at christmas to start seeing change...and horny as hell.

(if you haven't noticed by a reoccurring theme in my posts, the sex drive has not subsided)

I do remember my throat feeling tight after shot 2-3. And I didn't notice when I had growth downstairs up til it got so big you couldn't miss the difference.

When mine first started growing (which doesn't seem to take long for most guys) mine started feeling kind of raw. I think it was because of the rubbing up against my underwear. After awhile that stopped. I don't know if it was because of continued growth or the skin just toughened up.

You will definitely get erections. Not only can they throb and get bigger length wise but girth wise too. It sounds like there's really nothing to be concerned about.
